Phonics

The sound for today is ai snail in the rain. We will be delivering a phonics session at 10am on google classroom if children would like to join, don’t forget your pencil and paper!

Today in English you will be looking at different types of sentences on pages 14 and 15. 

Maths

Grab your dice for a game of snakes and ladders on pages 14 and 15 of the activity booklet, watch out for the questions near the end of the game. 

History

Year 2 loved learning about Mary Seacole and her amazing life during Black History Week, today we’d like them to use what they know about her and make their own Mary Seacole quiz. Information can be found on the bbc bitesize website below.

For this afternoon’s activity  we would like you to use the sheet below to think about harmful substances that can be found around the house. Children can make a list of harmful substances and where they can be found in the house.

Hello everyone,

We hope you had a lovely weekend and are ready for a week of exciting activities.

Phonics

Today’s sounds is ew chew the stew. We will be logging onto google classroom at 10am to deliver a phonics session for the class. The materials below will help you if you are unable to join the classroom meeting.

 

The video below will further support the children’s learning.

Challenge the children to spell the ew words using Fred fingers to help them. They could then try to use the words in sentences. Remember the children can log on to fast phonics on reading eggs to further support their reading of these sounds.

English

In English we’d like you to look at pages 10 and 11 which has activities about using adverbs.

Maths

Maths today is adding and subtracting ones on pages 10 and 11 of the activity booklet.

Science

At school we have been learning about the basic needs of animals. Today we’d like children to design a pet home, thinking about what the pet needs to be healthy and happy. Use the internet to research your pet to help you design the perfect pet home!

Hello everyone,

Happy Friday, we’d like to thank you for all of your support and hard work this week.

Wellbeing bubble

We will be logging onto Google classroom at 10am to discuss the ‘My Wellbeing bubble’ activity with the children.

They can use their creativity to think about how their bubble would taste, smell, sound and feel. Finally using their ideas to draw their bubble using colour and patterns.

Phonics

Today’s sound is the special friends aw yawn at dawn.

English

In English, we’d like you to complete the activities on pages 8 and 9 which is looking at adding ‘ing’ to words to show that something is happening or was happening.

Maths

Pages 8 and 9 in the Maths book is partitioning numbers we’ve done a lot of this in school and children might know it as the part whole model which they all love!

Respect the environment 

As part of anti-bullying week we’d like you to think about ways you can be respectful to others and to the environment. We talk about this a lot in school and the children always have fantastic ideas such as listening to each other, being friendly and treating each other how we would like to be treated. On the activity sheet, draw a picture to show ways you can be respectful then explain your drawing in the box underneath.

Year 2 google classroom login.

Tomorrow morning at 10am the Year 2 teachers are going to login to google classroom and read a story with their class. We have sent home your child’s google classroom login within the packs of work.

We have previously logged onto google classroom with the children in school but this is the first time using the meeting feature, this is a trial run so please bear with us!

Today’s learning:

Phonics

We’d like you to look at o-e phone home. This sound has been sent home already so you can read the words and look at the sound card. There’s also a video to support your learning:

As an extra challenge, try writing down the o-e words. Don’t forget to use Fred fingers to help you sound words out.

English

For English, we would like you to complete the activities on pages 4 and 5 which focus on noun phrases. This is building on yesterday’s work about nouns and adjectives. We have also used noun phrases in school when writing setting and character descriptions.

 

 

 

 

Maths

Today’s activities on pages 4 and 5 are further practice using a number line to add and subtract. 

United against bullying

The theme for this year’s anti-bullying week is United Against Bullying. Watch the video to find out more information. 

In your learning pack there is a jigsaw piece for you to write a pledge, something you will do to help stop bullying. On the jigsaw piece write your sentence which could be:

My class chooses to unite against bullying/name calling/bullying so I will…

Then explain what you will do play your part such as treating everyone with respect or tell a teacher if you hear someone saying something unkind. 

You can then decorate your puzzle piece to make it stand out.

Harton pupils never fail to amaze us. For Maisy’s birthday she asked for a litter picking kit. So she decided along with cleaning up the streets she would raise some money for the Poppy Appeal. Over the space of a week she has raised £137 and has cleaned up 12 bags of rubbish from the streets! She even donated some of her own birthday money to the fund!
We are all super proud of her. What a kind gesture.
