We have just been informed of a further positive case of Covid in Reception. As it is possible that ALL reception pupils have been in contact with the confirmed cases, they will ALL need to isolate. As the latest case developed symptoms earlier in the week we will need to confirm the isolation dates. We understand your frustration but we can only share information with you when it is passed to us. We are still waiting to hear from Public Health.
We have been informed of a positive Covid case in Reception. All Reception pupils will need to isolate but we are waiting for advice from Public Health to find out whether this is for 10 or 14 days. We will send an update as soon as we can. Reception pupils will not be able to attend school next week. When we return in January we will reschedule their party and any other missed activities.
Due to the risk of both flu and COVID-19 this winter, the national flu immunisation programme will be essential to protecting vulnerable people and our communities and health and care system against the flu.
For further information regarding the vaccine please visit
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine/
Parents who have refused ‘Fluenz’ nasal spray flu vaccine, due to porcine gelatine content, are this year being be offered an injectable vaccine which does not contain porcine gelatine.
If you wish your child to receive this vaccine when stock becomes available, please contact the school immunisation team on 0191 4028179 prior to 30th November 2020 for a clinic appointment.
If you have received this communication after the 30th November 2020 you can still contact the team to arrange vaccination.
Tomorrow morning at 10am the Year 2 teachers are going to login to google classroom and read a story with their class. We have sent home your child’s google classroom login within the packs of work.
We have previously logged onto google classroom with the children in school but this is the first time using the meeting feature, this is a trial run so please bear with us!
The joining instructions are below, we hope to see you tomorrow:
Hello everyone, we hope you’re all doing well.
Today’s learning:
Phonics
We’d like you to look at o-e phone home. This sound has been sent home already so you can read the words and look at the sound card. There’s also a video to support your learning:
As an extra challenge, try writing down the o-e words. Don’t forget to use Fred fingers to help you sound words out.
English
For English, we would like you to complete the activities on pages 4 and 5 which focus on noun phrases. This is building on yesterday’s work about nouns and adjectives. We have also used noun phrases in school when writing setting and character descriptions.
Maths
Today’s activities on pages 4 and 5 are further practice using a number line to add and subtract.
United against bullying
The theme for this year’s anti-bullying week is United Against Bullying. Watch the video to find out more information.
In your learning pack there is a jigsaw piece for you to write a pledge, something you will do to help stop bullying. On the jigsaw piece write your sentence which could be:
My class chooses to unite against bullying/name calling/bullying so I will…
Then explain what you will do play your part such as treating everyone with respect or tell a teacher if you hear someone saying something unkind.
You can then decorate your puzzle piece to make it stand out.
We love seeing the work you have been doing so remember to send it in to [email protected].
Good morning year 2,
We hope you are all well. Here are your home learning tasks for today:
Phonics
We always start the day with phonics, last Friday we sent home the sound u-e huge brute. Read over the sound cards and look at the rhymes to help you remember that the best friends u-e and how the e changes the sound of the u. Now practise reading the words for each sounds, remember to spot the special friend and best friends!
Here is a link to Ruth Miskin online which will support your learning.
Challenge the children to spell and write the words using the correct sounds. There are plenty of useful videos available on the Ruth Miskin Youtube channel.
English
Using the English Activity workbook complete pages 2 and 3 which is looking at nouns and adjectives.
As an extra challenge, children could write a sentence using two adjectives and a noun to describe a favourite character from a story, a film or even their pet. Remember to try and use a comma in a list of adjectives.
Maths
For maths, complete pages 2 and 3 in your addition and subtraction activity book which is practising adding and subtracting using pictures. Following this, children could login to Numbots for more number practice.
Odd Socks day
This week is anti-bullying week, we kick started with odd socks day to celebrate everyone being different and unique. We’d love you to design your own pair of odd socks for the school competition using the sheet included in your pack. Send any entries to [email protected]
Here is a link to a virtual odd socks assembly for more information. We hope you have a great day.
