This week, our classrooms have been buzzing with a very important mission: learning how to stay safe, cool, and confident around water!

With warmer weather on the horizon and family trips to the seaside in mind, our children have been diving deep into water safety. We focused on how to enjoy our beautiful beaches responsibly, spot potential dangers, and look out for one another.

What We Learned: Our Top Beach Safety Rules 🏖️

The children became absolute experts on beach safety. Here are some of the key rules they practiced and discussed:

  • Flags First: Always swim between the red and yellow flags, which show the safest areas patrolled by lifeguards.

  • The “Stop & Think” Rule: Before rushing into the water, check for hazards, read local safety signs, and look at the weather.

  • In Trouble? Float to Live: If you get into difficulty, don’t panic or waste energy splashing. Fight your instinct to swim hard—instead, tilt your head back, keep your ears in the water, relax, and float like a starfish.

  • Call for Help: Never go into the water to rescue a pet or a toy. Call 999  and ask for the Coastguard.

To help share these life-saving messages, the children put their creative talents to work and designed their own Water Safety Posters!
