Monday will be Odd Socks Day in school. Children are to come to school in uniform but are allowed to wear ‘odd socks’. It’s a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique in Anti-Bullying Week!

A huge congratulations to Harry in Y6A.
Harry has already read over 500,000 words on a Accelerated Reader and is now a Half Millionaire.
We are so proud of Harry and his enthusiasm towards reading.
Harry was the first child to become a Word Millionaire in Y5 last year. Will he be the first child in the school to achieve it this year?
Today we held our annual Remembrance Day commemoration. Children across the school have been learning about Remembrance Day and every child made their own poppy. The poppies were displayed around the school. Here are some photos of our beautiful poppies.
We enjoyed making poppies out of air hardening clay and then painting them for Remembrance Day. Our Y6 children are so proud of their finished poppies and they look wonderful in our classrooms to commemorate our war heroes.

Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated In England and Wales by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and takes place from 15 to 19 November 2021 and it has the theme One Kind Word. The week will begin with Odd Socks Day on Monday 15th.
Kindness is more important today than it has ever been. The isolation of the last year has underlined how little acts of consideration can break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us. This is one of the reasons, that ‘One Kind Word’ has been chosen as the theme of Anti-Bullying Week taking place from 15 to 19 of November 2021.
At Harton Primary, we will be embracing the ‘One Kind Word’ theme and celebrating the week with a range of activities. We are looking forward to a kindness filled week.
During Black History Week in school, Y6 have learned all about Nelson Mandela.
Did you know that Nelson Mandela was the first black president of South Africa? He became a President after serving 27 years in prison. He was imprisoned for trying to end apartheid in South Africa which segregated white and black people and meant that white people had more rights than black people.
We have enjoyed researching and writing a biography about this very influential man.
The school football team continued their good form before the half term with two excellent performances.
In the first game the team won 3-1 against a strong Valley View team. Goals for Rylan x2 and Max.
In the second game they defeated Westoe Crown 4-0. Goals for Connor and Rylan x3.
Schools football leagues will now shut down until the New Year.
Monday was the last of the Year 6 hockey lessons. To celebrate they put all the skills they have been taught into practise and played a series of small-sided games against each other. The children really enjoyed this and it was clear to see the progress they have made.
