Last week, Year 5 had a fantastic visit from the Newcastle Eagles. We enjoyed developing our basketball skills as well as learning about how to stay healthy. We discussed the different food groups, how much water we should drink each day and ways to take care of our mental health too. Thank you, Newcastle Eagles, for a great afternoon!
This half term we are lucky to have Little Movers for our PE sessions.
Each lesson we love to sing, play games and dance whilst developing our fundamental skills such as co-ordination and teamwork.

Harton 4 v 0 Whitburn
At first, we were a bit shaky and inviting pressure onto ourselves, but then we started to keep the ball better and whilst defending we were getting more impact and started to win the ball. Just as everyone started believing that we could score, we did not disappoint and scored 2 goals. Just before half time a mistake at the back gave Whitburn a superb chance but Maisy made outstanding saves. In the second half, with our game faces on we played some really good attacking football and scored another 2 goals to wrap the game up.
Overall a game and a 4-0 win over Whitburn thanks to two goals each for both Charlie and Leon. Well done, Harton.
Harton 2 – 0 Westoe Crown
After kick off, Westoe began to pressurise us with many goal scoring opportunities with us playing on the counter attack. As we were under the cosh from the beginning we knew whoever got the first goal would be the team with the upper hand. Luckily our fantastic captain, Leon, scored the first goal to relieve the pressure. I was playing central defensive midfield and trying to pass the ball wide to Harry and Charlie whenever I got the opportunity.
After a tight first half, Mr Steadman got us ready for the second half with a very encouraging team talk. Early in the second half a pass from Ollie to our other new Year 5, Jesse, set him up for his first goal and understandably he was overjoyed with his achievement. I moved into defence with Bonnie and we worked well to hold the line and then Harley replaced me and along with Maisy kept a clean sheet.
Overall an amazing performance, with many brilliant saves from Maisy. Well done Harton, 2-0 is a brilliant score line that we should all be proud of.
