Half Millionaire

Congratulations to Jack (Y6A) who has read over 500,000 words on Accelerated Reader this academic year before we are even half way through the school year. We have no doubt that Jack will be a Word Millionaire very soon.

Visit from Harton Academy

A few weeks ago, Ms Brennan and Ms Parkin from Harton Academy’s year-7 transition team paid us a visit to introduce themselves and also put us through our paces with some team-based, problem solving activities. Firstly, the children considered and discussed what qualities are required for effective teamwork. Then they had to put these skills to the test and work together to complete tasks as a team. It was a very interesting session and the children learned a lot.

A Christmas Carol

As part of our literacy topic, Year-6 have been studying Charles Dickens’ novel, A Christmas Carol. Last Wednesday, we took a trip to Middlesbrough Theatre to see it performed live. We had a really enjoyable day and the children’s exemplary behaviour was commented upon by several of the staff at the theatre. They were a credit to their families and their school and we’re very proud of them. Here are a couple of pictures below.

England Rocks 2021 – TTRS competition

Once again, our children are fantastic! Here are our extremely successful results from the latest national Times Tables Rock Stars competition “England Rocks 2021”.

Harton Primary School is the 48th highest scoring school in England, out of 4,000+ schools!
Y4C is the 196th highest scoring class, out of 30,000+ classes!
Our highest scoring pupils were Jack S., Conner C. and Jessica M.
We are so immensely proud of everyone who took part!

 

Return of Girls Football

Girls football returned after a break of almost two years and we were represented by two teams of girls from years 5 and 6.

Team A played really well and improved in each game and drew 0-0, lost 1-0 and drew 0-0.

Team B were excellent and drew 1-1 with a goal for Grace. Won 5-0, with 2 goals for Zofia and Grace and 1 for Ruby and won the final game 1-0 with Ruby scoring the winner.
