Y5B repotted some leek plants, then placed them in the polytunnel. Pupils were fascinated by what was growing in there. They sniffed the herbs: mint, thyme and rosemary in the raised beds. Everyone loved seeing how much the bulbs they had planted in Year 4 had grown.
Kerry Leask from Operation Encompass came into Year 6 today to teach about Emotions and Empathy. We know who we can contact if we have worries or uncomfortable feelings.
Allotment Club have been preparing the soil in the raised beds for seedlings. We have been planting spinach, beetroot and salad leaves.
We’ve had an amazing day celebrating Harton Primary School’s 10th birthday, and raising money for Red Nose Day.
We’ve watched a video featuring special guests, decorated party bags and biscuits, danced to music piped through the tannoy throughout the day, enjoyed a massive whole school Harton Primary quiz created by Mr Forster, taken part in Red Nose Day activities, and had a party tea. We even had a cake to take home, courtesy of our Cook.

How lucky that the day we visited the polytunnel to plant some seeds to grow peas, carrots and cauliflowers, a box arrived full of all the things we need to grow salad vegetables, courtesy of The Big Grow by Innocent and GIY(Grow It Yourself).
We all know how important mental health and wellbeing are, so a big thank you to the NEU Help a Child to Learn Foundation, and to Thompson and Morgan for their support. Their donations have enabled us to give a Wellbeing Bag, complete with a range of resources to support wellbeing, to all of our pupils.
There’s something for everyone inside. Welcome back!
Ant and Dec hosted a virtual assembly today on behalf of the NSPCC.
It addresses some of the worries or concerns pupils may have about returning to school. It’s well worth a watch!

Coping Calendar – Great for the whole family!
We really like our snow days, but it can be a bit chilly. We warmed up in class this morning with a GoNoodle – dodging some snowballs online!
The theme of this year’s Safer Internet Day which our pupils took part in, was Exploring Reliability in the Online World.
Year 4 pupils took part in a live quiz on Google Meet run by the ICT in Schools Team. There were teams involved from other South Tyneside schools too. It was a lot of fun, and it prompted a lot of discussion. We learnt a lot about keeping our information private, about real and fake images, and online bullying.
