We have loved learning about ‘Space’ this week. In Reception, we looked at non-fiction books and found out lots of amazing facts about Space, in particular planet Earth. Reception thoroughly enjoyed celebrating ‘Black History Week’ last week. Together, we read the story ‘Get Up and Stand Up’. As a class, we discussed that despite our differences we should all be treated equally and fairly. We then talked about how we are all different to our friends and how that makes us unique. After that, we discussed who we would talk to and what we would say if someone was treating us unkindly because our differences- we came up with some fantastic answers! Finally, we listened carefully to the lyrics of the song ‘Get Up and Stand Up’ by Bob Marley and discussed how we need to stand up for our rights when we are being treat unkindly.
Reception have thoroughly enjoyed learning many interesting facts about the artist Wassily Kandinsky. We looked carefully at his artwork then, we created our own art masterpiece inspired by ‘Kandinsky’s Concentric Circles’. We explored colouring mixing using a range of primary colours. Reception have been super busy making amazing dreamcatchers! The children have been discussing what their dreams for Year 1 are. They have thought of some amazing things they would like to achieve when they come back to school in September.
Reception have thoroughly enjoyed exploring nature and learning through play. We sang songs, made pies and drinks, drew pictures, constructed building, created gigantic bubbles, relaxed in the hammock and investigated how water flowed. We had an amazing time.
On Friday we had a fantastic time at Tynemouth Aquarium. We explored the Aquarium finding out interesting facts about a range of the sea creatures. We also had the opportunity to touch different types of starfish. We lastly enjoyed attending the Seal show, watching the Seals doing a range of amazing tricks!
