This year Hadrian’s Wall celebrates it’s 1900th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, we have created our very own ‘Hadrian’s Wall at Harton’. Every class from Nursery to Year 6, have been learning about Hadrian’s Wall. The children used what they had discovered to write a fact about the wall on a brick which we used to make our enormous wall!
We all had the most amazing day at Hall Hill Farm. First, we went on a tractor ride around the farm to see lots of different animals. Then, we saw Percy the peacock and he showed us his fantastic feathered tail. We had lots of fun feeding the animals and even bottled fed the lambs!!!!. After, lots of walking and feeding we headed back to the coach and returned to school.
We had a fantastic day visiting Hall Hill Farm. We explored the farm, feeding many of the different farm animals and learning lots of different facts about them. We also went on a very exciting tractor ride, looking at all the different areas of the farm. We finished the day by bottle feeding a lamb! We had so much fun.
This tern Reception have thoroughly enjoyed participating in ‘MINI MOVERS with PIP’. We have sang songs, wiggled our bodies in time to the music, worked hard at improving our throwing and catching skills and enjoyed themed racing. We all can’t wait to continue MINI MOVERS next term.
Reception have been thoroughly enjoying their new topic of ‘How living things grow’. After planting their own sunflower seeds, they decided to create their own sunflower paintings. The children began exploring the work of Vincent Van Gogh and focused on one of his most famous pieces of artwork known as ‘Sunflowers’. They then create their own sunflower painting inspired by Vincent Van Gogh. Reception used a range of colours and shapes within their paintings to create their beautiful masterpieces. Take a look at their fantastic artwork!
To begin our new topic we have planted sunflower seeds. We are going to water them every day and make sure they have enough sunlight to grow. We cannot wait to observe the changes this half term!
Today we have a very special visit from ZooLab!
We held different ‘living things’ and learnt lots of interesting facts about them through the story ‘Speedy the Snail’.
This year Hadrian’s Wall is celebrating its 1900th anniversary. Years 1 to 6 took part in online workshops delivered by Tyne and Wear Museums as part of their ‘Virtual Hadrian’s Wall Day’.
We are working on a very exciting project in school. We have all been learning about Hadrian’s Wall and every child has made their own ‘fact brick’. We look forward to sharing the finished project with you soon!
Here are some pictures of our bricks. Can you guess what we are building?
It was fantastic to finally be able to welcome our Harton families back into school again.
Thank you to all of our parents and carers for attending the Easter Stay and Play event. The children sang their Easter songs beautifully and the competition entries were EGGCELLENT!
We have loved watching 10 eggs hatch into healthy chicks. We have cared for them and took great care when handling them. Today they went to their forever home in North Tyneside!
