This half term our topic is ‘How living things go’. We have been very busy planting lots of different seeds. We are looking forward to watching them grow!
This week, Reception invited our adults into school to decorate an egg with us. Our creations were EGGCELLENT! We then performed an Easter concert for our adults singing lots of spring songs. Our adults were so proud of us!
World Book Day 2023
We have loved to see the children in their wonderful outfits, celebrating their favourite books and authors for World Book Day. All of the children have completed a range of book related activities in school.
Ella in Year 6 said she enjoys World Book Day. “I love reading and it’s fun to be the characters you love for the day”.
Sadie in Year 4 said she enjoys World Book Day because she loves reading and it’s a day all about celebrating reading.
Reception had a very special visitor this term! After learning about people that help us, the North East ambulance service visited Harton Primary School giving us a tour of an ambulance. We discussed the different equipment used by the paramedics and some of us even had our heart rate checked! After the visit, many of the children in reception were inspired to become real superheroes too, just like our paramedics.
Reception have enjoyed exploring the new outdoor equipment this week and we even created our own obstacle course! To manoeuvre our way around the obstacle course, we have been using a range of movements such as hopping, jumping, rolling and climbing. It has been so much fun!
Reception have been just as busy as Santa’s elves celebrating and preparing for Christmas!
We loved taking part in Christmas dinner and Christmas jumper day, playing games and dancing at our Christmas party and performing Christmas songs for our family during the Reception carol concert.
We have been very creative in the classroom, exploring lots of different materials and making Christmas decorations to fill our homes with!
A very MERRY CHRISTMAS from everyone in Reception!
This week, in Reception, we enjoyed making Christmas biscuits. We discussed the instructions using the following language: first, then, next, after and last. We had so much fun and they tasted yummy!
Reception enjoyed taking part in the annual charity event ‘Children in Need’. We all entered school wearing non-uniform and donated money to help change the lives of children and young people all over the country. We discussed all of the reasons why we were raising money. Also, we took part in lots of fun Pudsey activities and had our own yummy Pudsey biscuit- it was so much fun!
Today we have celebrated Odd Socks Day.
Odd Socks Day provides an opportunity to have fun, be yourself, and spread awareness of the core values Anti-Bullying Week promotes.
We all joined Andy and the Odd Socks for a dance and a sing along.
Check out some of our Odd Socks photos!
This week, the children have been learning all about the importance of ‘Remembrance Day’. The children designed their own poppies and talked about the important event in British History. Take a look at our amazing artwork…
