Reception thoroughly enjoyed celebrating ‘Black History Week’ last week. Together, we read the story ‘Get Up and Stand Up’. As a class, we discussed that despite our differences we should all be treated equally and fairly. We then talked about how we are all different to our friends and how that makes us unique. After that, we discussed who we would talk to and what we would say if someone was treating us unkindly because our differences- we came up with some fantastic answers! Finally, we listened carefully to the lyrics of the song ‘Get Up and Stand Up’ by Bob Marley and discussed how we need to stand up for our rights when we are being treat unkindly.
