We had so much fun raising money for Children in Need. We found out all about the charity behind Pudsey bear, came into school in our own clothes, loved our Pudsey biscuits and took part in lots of Pudsey activities.
We are all so proud of our lovely Ava in Y1A. Having made a wreath from a collection of our class poppies, Ava went along to South Shields Riverside to represent our school at the Remembrance service. She kindly sent in some photos; here she is pictured with her proud Dad George, representing the Navy. Thank you Ava and George!
Our new display boards in the Community Room have been populated with the work of our hardworking pupils.
In Year 3, we had so much fun celebrating Harton Primary School’s 10th birthday and raising money for Red Nose Day. We had a fun packed day including decorating our own biscuits, dancing along to music on the speakers, playing party games and most importantly completing the Harton Primary Kahoot Quiz. We thoroughly enjoyed our celebrations and we certainly will not forget this special birthday!
We’ve had an amazing day celebrating Harton Primary School’s 10th birthday, and raising money for Red Nose Day.
We’ve watched a video featuring special guests, decorated party bags and biscuits, danced to music piped through the tannoy throughout the day, enjoyed a massive whole school Harton Primary quiz created by Mr Forster, taken part in Red Nose Day activities, and had a party tea. We even had a cake to take home, courtesy of our Cook.
We all know how important mental health and wellbeing are, so a big thank you to the NEU Help a Child to Learn Foundation, and to Thompson and Morgan for their support. Their donations have enabled us to give a Wellbeing Bag, complete with a range of resources to support wellbeing, to all of our pupils.
There’s something for everyone inside. Welcome back!
We have seen lots of fabulous examples of Health, Wellbeing and Relationships work across school, from our pupils engaged in remote learning and those pupils in school.
Some pupils in KS1 have been practising mindfulness by joining in with online story yoga, and also learning about what makes them special. Others have been learning about money, and having an awareness of saving money for something they need or would like.
In KS2, some classes have been thinking about what makes them happy, and their thoughts on this are all very unique. Researching issues facing cocoa farmers in Ghana and how organisations like Fairtrade are trying to improve working conditions and environment, has produced some interesting debate from some classes. Other pupils have created very informative posters based upon their awareness of basic first aid to do with nose bleeds.
Our Year 6 pupils have been looking at careers and potential jobs for the future, discussing things that might lead them to choose a certain job or career.

Harton Nook Sainsburys very kindly donated a whole bunch of treats to our school to help cheer our children and staff up after what has been a very tough year!

Year 2 pupils have been fascinated by the life story of Mary Seacole, particularly her resilience in overcoming challenging situations and her contribution to the nursing profession. Pupils have completed excellent work that shows empathy and understanding.
We are teaming up with Age Concern Tyneside South to send a little community Christmas cheer to some of our South Tyneside residents. Our pupils have made Christmas designs which will be delivered via Age Concern. We think they look very Christmassy!
