8 children for Year 6 recently visited McNaldo’s MMA gym. The children were shown some Jiu Jitsu moves and how to perform them safely with a partner.
Children from Year 2 visited Temple Park last week and took part in a Christmas themed multi skills event. The children loved the games and learnt some new games to play back at school.
Here is a quick guide on how to report your child as absent using the Arbor app. A handy tool for parents who may not be able to call school first thing in the morning.
If you are having trouble logging in to the Arbor app, please contact the school office to ensure we have an up to date email address for you.
We are pleased to introduce our Sports Leaders for this year. These children will help run sports activities for younger children at dinner time. In addition they will have opportunities to support and run sporting festivals for children from other schools.
A selection of children in years 4, 5 and 6 are taking part in Table Cricket ran by Durham County Cricket Club. The children have learnt the signals, how to score and the importance of teamwork.
WOW — 2ND IN ENGLAND! We can’t shout it loud enough… Harton Primary School are the 2nd highest scoring primary school out of 4100 schools in England! Our amazing pupils took part in the TTRS England Rocks competition and absolutely smashed all previous records. Their hard work, determination, and fantastic teamwork have truly paid off. We are, as always, incredibly proud of our children and everything they continue to achieve.
Congratulations to our Readers of the Month for November.
We love celebrating the children’s reading achievements with them at Harton Primary and this month was no exception.
The children continue to amaze us with their achievements and enthusiasm. Many of the teachers have commented that the children who were chosen have shown ‘consistent effort’ with their reading in school and at home. We always encourage the children to aim for progress rather than perfection as always, we are so proud of them.
A special shout out to Carter in Year 1 who has improved his confidence so much when reading in phonics lessons, to Sienna in Year 2 and Ivy in Year 3 who have both made super progress and moved up reading levels, and finally a shout out to Emily in Year 5 who is ‘smashing all her tragets’ in class.
Well done to everyone!
Well done to all children who took part in the Odd Socks competition for Anti-bullying week. Here are some of our winners with their prize and the winning odd socks.
The School Council were excited to go on their first trip to our local foodbank, Key to Life.
After a behind the scenes tour, the children quickly got to work. They worked as a team to unpack of our Canny Friday donations before carefully sorting them into boxes and labelling them with their ‘best before dates’. This will help the team of foodbank volunteers tremendously when making food parcels for those in need.
The children asked staff a range of carefully thought out questions and were astounded to learn that the foodbank helps at least 90 children a week. The children returned to school full of ideas as to how else they might help others in our local community.
