This week in History club we have been looking at Stonehenge. We talked about what archaeologists have learned about Stonehenge and what they think it was used for. The children had some fantastic ideas and applied their existing knowledge to justify their suggestions. Miss Whitehead and Mrs Moore were very impressed!
We then made our own Stonehenge using biscuits. We had lots of fun making and eating them! We also had a go at making Stonehenge using Lego.
Next week our focus will be the Ancient Egyptians.
Girls football returned after a break of almost two years and we were represented by two teams of girls from years 5 and 6.
Team A played really well and improved in each game and drew 0-0, lost 1-0 and drew 0-0.
Team B were excellent and drew 1-1 with a goal for Grace. Won 5-0, with 2 goals for Zofia and Grace and 1 for Ruby and won the final game 1-0 with Ruby scoring the winner.
Check out our amazing odd socks to celebrate Odd Socks Day 2021.
It has been an opportunity to encourage all of us to express ourselves, celebrate our individuality and what makes us all unique and special.
Monday will be Odd Socks Day in school. Children are to come to school in uniform but are allowed to wear ‘odd socks’. It’s a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique in Anti-Bullying Week!
Today we held our annual Remembrance Day commemoration. Children across the school have been learning about Remembrance Day and every child made their own poppy. The poppies were displayed around the school. Here are some photos of our beautiful poppies.

Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated In England and Wales by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and takes place from 15 to 19 November 2021 and it has the theme One Kind Word. The week will begin with Odd Socks Day on Monday 15th.
Kindness is more important today than it has ever been. The isolation of the last year has underlined how little acts of consideration can break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us. This is one of the reasons, that ‘One Kind Word’ has been chosen as the theme of Anti-Bullying Week taking place from 15 to 19 of November 2021.
At Harton Primary, we will be embracing the ‘One Kind Word’ theme and celebrating the week with a range of activities. We are looking forward to a kindness filled week.
Today was the first after school History club for Year 5.
We began by talking about how we find out about the past. The children used their Historical skills to look at pictures of artefacts and say what they thought they were, how they were used and what time period they were from.
We then thought about the role of archaeologists and the children drew their own archaeologist, thinking about their clothing and the equipment they would need. The children were interested to hear Mrs Moore was an archaeologist!
Check out the brilliant bats that some of our children have made for the Halloween STEM project arranged by Harton Academy. We’re really impressed by the different strategies used to improve how far the bats flew.
