Year 2

Year 2 remote learning 28.1.21

28th January 2021ajennings

Good morning,

In your English lesson you are going to be continuing to write your own version of the story The Magic Paintbrush using boxes four and five of the story plan to help you. Try to use exciting adjectives to describe the character that kidnaps you and wants to use the magic paintbrush for themselves.

In maths we are continuing our division topic today but we will be looking at division by making equal groups. The teaching slides and worksheet have been included however, you may also want to use some objects to make the lesson more practical when grouping. You will also need a pencil, rubber and the worksheet/piece of paper.

For spellings, there is a worksheet for you to continue practising the soft ‘c’. Hint: the /s/ sound is sometimes spelt ‘c’, usually before ‘e’, ‘i’ or ‘y’.

In Geography, you will be comparing school life in Harton Primary to school life in a typical school in Beijing. We would like you to complete the worksheet provided in your work pack or you can just complete in on a bit of paper (whatever you choose).

Please continue to send in your work to [email protected]

‘Live’ sessions will continue to be at 9.45 and 2.30 today.

See you all soon.

The year 2 team.

Year 2

Remote Learning – PSHE

27th January 2021S Robson

We have seen lots of fabulous examples of Health, Wellbeing and Relationships work across school, from our pupils engaged in remote learning and those pupils in school.

Some pupils in KS1 have been practising mindfulness by joining in with online story yoga, and also learning about what makes them special. Others have been learning about money, and having an awareness of saving money for something they need or would like.

In KS2, some classes have been thinking about what makes them happy, and their thoughts on this are all very unique. Researching issues facing cocoa farmers in Ghana and how organisations like Fairtrade are trying to improve working conditions and environment, has produced some interesting debate from some classes. Other pupils have created very informative posters based upon their awareness of basic first aid to do with nose bleeds.

Our Year 6 pupils have been looking at careers and potential jobs for the future, discussing  things that might lead them to choose a certain job or career.

Fantastic!

Wednesday 27.1.21

27th January 2021Ms C Smith

Morning all,

In your English lesson you are going to be continuing to write your own version of the story The Magic Paintbrush using boxes two and three of the story plan to help you. Try to use exciting adjectives to describe the character that gives you the magic paintbrush.

In maths we are continuing our division topic today but we will be looking at division by grouping. The teaching slides and worksheet have been included however, you may also want to use some objects to make the lesson more practical when grouping. You will also need a pencil, rubber and the worksheet/piece of paper.

For spellings, Practise the words on this list using look, say, cover, write and check. Hint: the /s/ sound is sometimes spelt ‘c’, usually before ‘e’, ‘i’ or ‘y’.

For PSHE, we want you to think about: How do we save money? Why do we save money? Use the slides to help you solve the money related scenarios.

Please continue to send in your work to [email protected]

‘Live’ sessions will continue to be at 9.45 and 2.30 today.

See you all soon.

The year 2 team.

Year 2

Amazing home learning in year 2!

26th January 2021ajennings

Year 2 have been working so hard at home and we have been amazed with the fantastic work they have been sending in.

English

In English, children started off the term learning about China. They have been writing and performing poems about Chinese dragon’s dancing in the New Year parade. They practised reading their poems aloud, speaking clearly and using sound effects and actions.

Here are a few of the brilliant performances:

The children used the facts they learned about China to write some wonderful information texts.

Maths

Look at all of the marvellous multiplication that the children have been doing, investigating how many equal groups there are and how many objects are in each group:

Here is even more fantastic work that year 2 have been doing, we are so proud of them!

26.1.21 Tuesday

26th January 2021Ms C Smith

Morning, today’s work is available on Google Classroom.

English : Today we would like you to write the first part of your own Magic Paintbrush story using the first box of the story plan from yesterday to help you. Remember that you are the main character of the story so make sure you write in first person. You will need: – red exercise book – pencil – rubber – story plan Don’t forget to use capital letters and full stops in your work and try to include exciting adjectives to make the beginning of your story interesting. We can’t wait to read them!

Maths: We are continuing our division topic today; making equal groups. Please watch the video then complete the worksheet. You will need a pencil and rubber. If you are finding this difficult, get your objects back out and work practically to find your answers.

Science : Today you will be learning which animals live in the polar regions and you will learn how organisms are adapted to live in different habitats. Look at the slides and then complete the activity. The worksheets are in your home learning pack or you can access them from here.

Year 2

Year 2 timetable week 4

25th January 2021Ms C Smith

Hello, here is the suggested timetable for work this week. Lessons will be released daily on Google Classroom.

Year 2

25.1.21 Marvellous Monday

25th January 2021Ms C Smith

Happy Monday year 2.

Here’s to another super week of working.

Your tasks today :

In English lesson we are going to be planning your own story based on the Magic Paintbrush but you will need to be the main character! Fill in the story board plan using the picture prompts sheet. You will be using the story plan to write your story through the week.

Spellings this week we will be focusing on the soft c’ spelling rule. Videos to support learning are on Google Classroom.

In maths we will be sharing amounts equally. This is a practical lesson so you will need some objects (this can be anything; cars, pencils, fruit or even the mountain of sweets left over from Christmas! 🙂 ). You can write your answers on a piece of paper or whiteboard and we would love to see a photo of you sharing your objects.

Today you can also try PE using your https://jasmineactive.com/ account. In your packs that we delivered we included your login. Send in your amazing PE photos.

Any questions please email [email protected].
