Year 2 remote learning 10.2.21

10th February 2021ajennings

Good morning year 2,

It’s wonderful Wednesday!

Today in English we would like you continue with the recount of Taking Flight and write the next part of the story. Use the pictures in your English work pack to help you, there is also the teaching slides and lesson recording on Google Classroom. Remember to include exciting adjectives, commas in a list and conjunctions to make your writing really interesting.

In Maths, we are continuing on with our fractions topic and today we are going to be learning how to recognise half. This lesson will be taught live at 9:45 on Google Classroom.

For spellings, there is a worksheet to help you practise reading and writing words that end with ‘tion’.

In PSHE you will be learning that we have a responsibility to be a good citizen and understand why people support charities. Your task is to create a poster about your chosen charity and how your charity helps people.

Thank you for all of the work that is being sent in and uploaded onto Google Classroom, we’re so proud of you all.

Here’s the email address for you to get in touch if you need to [email protected]

Have a great day everyone.

Year 2 remote learning 8.2.21

8th February 2021ajennings

Good morning,

We hope you all had a relaxing and safe weekend.

Remote learning is now available on Google Classroom.

Today in English we would like you to read some sentences from the film Taking flight, and identify the type of sentence they are. You are checking to see whether each sentence is a command, question, statement or exclamation. Think carefully about the different punctuation used in each sentence to help you.

In Maths, we are starting a new topic of fractions. There are some teaching slides to help you, this lesson will also be taught live at 9:45.

For spellings, we would like you to look at pages 16-17 in your spellings booklet, looking at words ending with le, el, al and il.

In guided reading, listen to the story of Ronald the Rhino and answer the questions in your home learning pack.

If you would like, why not finish the day with some GoNoodle or Joe Wickes to help you to stay active!

Have a great day.

Please continue to send your work to [email protected]

Year 2

Year 2 remote learning timetable week 6

8th February 2021ajennings

Good morning,

Here is the suggested timetable for remote learning this week.

Lessons will be released daily on Google Classroom.

Year 2

3.2.21 Wednesday

2nd February 2021Ms C Smith

Morning all,

Today in English we want you to describe how a character is feeling. Watch the film again and describe how Tony is feeling at different parts of the story. Talk about these questions with your grown up: How does Tony feel at the beginning of the story? How do you know? Why is he feeling this way? How is he feeling when he’s in the wagon? Why? How does Tony feel when he’s about to go over the waterfall? How does he feel at the end of the story? Why? Answer the questions in full sentences using conjunctions (because, and, when) to give more detail.

Today’s maths lesson will be focussing on dividing by 5. The video and teaching slides are attached to help you. Your worksheet is attached and a copy is in your learning pack. You will need a pencil and a rubber. If you are finding this too challenging, use some objects to make the arrays as this will help you.

Today we are continuing looking at the ‘soft g’ sound in spellings. Complete the spellings practice worksheet and see how many words you can spell correctly. Hopefully you will have them all correct by the 3rd try.

Today in PSHE you will be learning the difference between needs and wants. Watch the video and use the slides to help you learn about the differences between needs and wants. Your task is to then complete the table of ‘needs vs wants’. This can be either done on Google Classroom or you have the paper copy in your learning pack.

Please continue to send your work to [email protected]

Year 2

2.2.21 Tuesday

2nd February 2021Ms C Smith

Morning everyone,

Today we are looking at odd and even numbers in Maths. Remember to watch the video or go through the teaching slides as they will help you complete your work. I have also attached a little story about Mr Odd and Mrs Even which you may like to read. The Worksheet is in your learning pack and you will need a pencil and a rubber, 1 colouring pencil and 2 dice (or you could just roll a die twice). We look forward to seeing your work.

Today’s activity in English is  to write a character description of Grandpa. Answer the questions in full sentences to help your character description. You can also add in your own information if you like! Remember to use exciting adjectives and commas in a list.

Today in Spellings,  we will be looking at the ‘soft g’ sound. Read through the postcard from Jack to the Giant. Underline the words using the ‘soft g’ sound and use a different coloured pencil to underline the words using a ‘j’ for the same sound.

In Science,  you will be investigating coastal habitats. Use the websites and boards to research costal habitats and then draw a picture of the seaside with a variety of animals. Label the animals and write facts about them (including how they are suited to live at the coast) using information you have found.
Please continue sending your work in to [email protected].
We look forward to hearing from you.

1.2.21 Year 2 remote learning

1st February 2021ajennings

Good morning everyone,

We hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready for a week of learning.

Today’s work is now on Google Classroom.

In English we would like you to watch the short film, Taking Flight, then write a character description.

https://www.literacyshed.com/takingflight.html

When you are watching the film, think about these questions: Who do you think the main characters are? What do they do? How do they behave? You can watch the film as many times as you like to help you. Today you are going to describe the character of Tony. Think carefully about what he looks like, how he behaves.

Maths is continuing with our division topic and today we will be dividing by two. Remember to use any equipment to help you.

For guided reading, listen to the story of Two Feathers and then answer the questions.

Spelling is looking at the soft ‘g’ sound and completing pages 10-11 in the spelling activity book.

Have a great day and don’t forget to send any work in to [email protected], we love to see what you’ve been up to!

Fabulous Friday 29.1.21

29th January 2021Ms C Smith

Happy Fabulous Friday everyone.

Please continue to send us your work to [email protected] and upload it to Google Classroom.

In today’s English lesson you are writing the ending to your story. Use your plan to help you think about what you draw to describe what you draw to help you to escape, do you draw anything else to stop anyone from catching you? Where do you decide to go and do you tell anyone what happened?

Today’s lesson is practical. Follow the video which will give you grouping and sharing activities to complete. You will need a pencil, rubber and paper for this lesson. There is also  an extension worksheet for you to have a go at which is also in your learning pack (this is not compulsory).

For foundation subjects, we would like you to complete an art task ( we know how much you love art). We would like you to draw a portrait of a panda. Follow the video and the slides to help you draw your panda.

All work is available from 8am on Google Classroom.
