Confirmed Covid-19 Case in Year 5

18th September 2020M Noble

Unfortunately we are writing to inform you that we have found out early this morning that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 in Year 5.

In accordance with public health guidance we have taken the decision to request that Year 5 do not attend school today (Friday 18th September). This decision has been made following strict Public Health guidance in order to keep the rest of our school community safe. We will be in touch later today about whether Year 5 can return to school on Monday, or whether they need to remain off school for a period of 14 days.

Please be advised that the affected person does not have a sibling in school and so this will not affect anyone outside of Year 5.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the late notice. Many thanks for your co-operation, and we will be in touch with more information shortly.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Ratcliffe

Lumb Bank Writing Retreat

6th July 2020N Johnson

Over the past few years, Harton Primary has had the privilege of working with Lumb Bank writing retreat in Yorkshire. The children and staff stay at Lumb Bank for one week in an 18th-century mill owner’s house in West Yorkshire, which once belonged to Ted Hughes. It’s set in 20 acres of woodland with breathtaking views of the valley below.
The children work with well-known and successful authors of children’s books and undertake workshops and drama activities which inform their writing. In previous years, Year 6 children have had this opportunity. However, earlier this year, sixteen of our Year 5 children were chosen to attend. They worked with Liz Flanagan and Anthony McGowan, two amazing authors who gave the children invaluable advice and feedback on their work.
The children created an Anthology of their work which consisted of poetry, short stories and word association sentences. They produced some amazing writing and represented the school fantastically. What a great week we had!
