Year 3 have enjoyed using drama to support their writing in English lessons. The children have acted out different scenes from the story and used a conscience alley activity to deepen their understanding of the characters in the story.

Year 3 found out that Stone Age man used to paint animals, hunters and their hands. They used minerals to make their paint.
Year 3 have been working hard conducting different investigations in Science Club. Last week, the children had a great time looking at a chemical reaction between bicarbonate of soda and vinegar (we even added food colouring just for fun). What will we be doing this week?
We have had a very exciting beginning to our autumn term!
Y3 have been working their socks off learning lots of new topics! Take a look at what we have been up to so far.
We told our new teachers all about us and we decided together what we would like our new classroom to look like and what resources we would like on our tables.
This week we have enjoyed having two fantastic visitors into school. We had Nuffield health team in to teach us how to deal with our feelings and then Julien taught us lots of new french vocabulary and how to order a crepe in French!
Miss Devlin and Mrs Langley’s class have also began their swimming lessons and have all made a fantastic effort!

Y3C are getting into the holiday spirit!
Year 3 have had a fantastic time during Arts Week. We have taken part in dramatic productions, produced works of fine art, and enjoyed vocal and body percussion workshops.

Year 3 have been helping with the upkeep of our new allotment by watering and feeding the vegetables and herbs. Our tomato plants from Beamish Hall are doing well, and the courgettes are beginning to flower. Did you know that in Italy, deep fried courgette flowers are a popular appetiser?
An exciting parcel arrived from our French penpals in Noisy-le-sec this week. It contained timetables and beautifully written letters about what pupils will be doing during their Summer holidays. We noticed that they have already started their holidays (on 4 juillet – 4th July), and that their school day begins at 8.30. Children eat their evening meal at 7pm. We hope they received the timetables and letters we sent them.
Thank you to all of our parents/guardians for the contributions during our Elmer Project Day. We raised over £400 for St. Oswalds Hospice.
We are so excited for Elmer’s Great North Parade and cannot wait to see our Harton Primary School elephant on the trail. During our project day the children put forward their own design ideas and they were amazing. We cannot wait to share them with you.
