Year 2 have loved doing gymnastics this half term in PE with Tom. We have been learning different moves, such as a teddy bear roll, pencil jump and a forward roll. We have then used these steps to create a gymnastics sequence.
On Thursday, several children from Year 4 attended the first ever Around the World in Sporty Ways festival. The children were able to try sports from around the world including American Football, Kabaddi and Handball. All the children loved the experience.
On Friday, 30 children from Year 5 took part in the Fit for the Finish festival. This included running a mile, crossing the finish line of the Great North Run and meeting Olympian Chris Thompson.
Today Reception talked about different places we could host a show. Then we designed and built our own show using Lego. Next, we looked behind the scenes and talked about different jobs people might have at theatres, museums and galleries. After that, we build objects, tools and vehicles that the people doing these jobs might use. It was so much fun !!!
A couple of weeks ago some our our Year 2 children attend the OAA Festival at South Marine Park. The children worked together in their teams navigating the park grounds, searching for lots of hidden checkpoint markers and building materials, in which to construct their own special shelters for their teddy bear mascot. We had a great time!
Today, YRW had a special visit to our local library. We walked to the library using the road safety rules. During our visit we listened to the Librarian read ‘Tickly Octopus’ then we explored a range of books. We even coloured and made our own bookmarks.
