The Ickabog – Become a famous illustrator!

Some exciting news for J.K. Rowling fans! During lockdown, J.K. Rowling – the world famous author of the Harry Potter novels –  has written and is releasing a new story The Ickabog in free instalments on the website tagged in this post.  https://www.theickabog.com/home/

Every day, she will be making suggestions for what you might like to draw. You can enter the official competition being run by J.K Rowling’s publishers, for the chance to have your artwork included in a printed version of the book due out later this year.

Get creative and get drawing! Please also send us some of your wonderful illustrations. We can’t wait to see them.

 

 

Music Challenge – Day 27

Hi everyone!
The 30 day Music Challenge is coming to an end…I hope you have all had fun choosing songs to suit each day.
Today is day 27 – “Listen to a song that you have listened to with your best friend”. A good choice for today might be, “You’ve got a friend in me” from the film Toy Story.

I hope you have enjoyed the challenge so far…only a few more songs to go 🙂

Using nature in art

Our latest daily challenge was to create a masterpiece using nature as part of the picture. The children could also use any media of their choice to complete the picture e.g. pens, pencils, chalk. The children at Harton Primary School are very creative!

Year 3 Art Project- David Hockney

Last week Year 3 completed an art project based on the contemporary British Artist David Hockney. The children looked at one of his famous pieces and thought carefully about the contrasting colours and the effects this creates.

They did lots of experimenting with mixing different combinations of primary colours to achieve a variety of different shades. After that they investigated different tools and what effects and textures they would create.

The final part of the project was to explore the landscapes around them and use the artistic skills they had practised to sketch and colour their own landscape. We are super impressed with what they have created.  Fabulous work Year 3! Do you recognise any of their chosen landscapes?

Music 30 day challenge!

Researching the Ancient Egyptians at home

Being at home hasn’t stopped Year 4 from working incredibly hard. They were given the task of researching different aspects of Ancient Egyptian history including their daily lives, their religious beliefs and the mummification process.
