Scholastic Book Fair – Autumn 2024

Just a reminder that our Scholastic Book Fair begins tomorrow afternoon. Parents and children are invited to come into school and into the Studio (via the fire exit door) to look at the books and make any purchases during the following times:

Nursery & Reception – Friday 4th October– 3.15pm – 3.45pm or Monday 7th October  – 8.30am – 8:50am

Year 1 – Monday 7th October – 3.15pm – 3.45pm

Year 2 – Tuesday 8th October – 8.30am – 8:50am

Year 3 – Tuesday 8th October – 3.15pm – 3.45pm

Year 4 – Wednesday 9th October – 8.30am – 8:50am

Year 5 & Year 6 – Wednesday 9th October – 3.15pm – 3.45pm

Please also remember that our Book Fair is cashless.

Reception’s Trip to the Library

Today, YRW had a special visit to our local library.  We walked to the library using the road safety rules.  During our visit we listened to the Librarian read ‘Tickly Octopus’ then we explored a range of books.  We even coloured and made our own bookmarks.

As part of our ‘How Living Things Grow’ topic.  Reception visited Hall Hill Farm.  We saw and fed many different animals.  We even went on a bumpy tractor ride all around the farm.  We had the most amazing day!!

Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you to everyone who attended our book fair recently.

It was wonderful to see the children so enthused about new books.

Thanks to the fantastic turnout, we have raised £554.68 to buy more books for school to support the children and their love of reading.

We look forward to hosting another book fair next academic year.

Tiny Tweeties

Today we had a special visit from the ‘Tiny Tweeties’. We sang fairytale songs, clapped, danced and tapped to the beat of the music. We had so much fun!

Lunar New Year Celebrations

This week, we have been celebrating Lunar New Year and learning about Chinese culture. We learned facts about China, took part in many different crafts, tasted some Chinese food and took part in dragon dancing.

A visit from the Police!

This week, we have been reading the story ‘Real Superheroes’. Today Lorna, our local police officer, came to visit us. She told us all about her job as a real life superhero.

Today, we had a visit from Tyne and Wear Fire Rescue. The firefighters told us some interesting facts and we explored the equipment used on a fire engine.
