This week we have been reading the story ‘Elmer’. Today in Art, we have been exploring colour mixing, using the primary colours to make other colours.
Today we were ‘Lego Engineers’. We designed and created our own Lego models. Our teachers have been really impressed with our teamwork skills such as sharing, discussing and compromising, We have had so much fun during our school STEM week!!!!
Today we continued to make fairground rides using our Lego. We found out about electric cars and how they work. Then we used our Lego to make electric cars and ramps for them to travel down. We used our six bricks to make a tower, balancing our Lego bricks carefully.
As part of our ‘How Livings Things Grow’ topic, Reception visited Hall Hill Farm. We saw and fed many different animals. We went on a very bumpy tractor ride and even milked a cow! We had a fantastic day!
This week in Reception, we have been learning about the coronation of King Charles III. We took part in activities covering many areas of the curriculum.
In History, we learned facts about King Charles and found out what a coronation was. We watched the coronation of the King’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
In Literacy, we wrote facts about King Charles.
In Geography, we learned about the commonwealth and looked at the commonwealth countries on a map.
In Art and DT, we made decorations for our classroom and designed flags to represent all of the commonwealth countries. We even had a go at drawing King Charles!
In ICT, we used Google Earth to look at Great Britain and the commonwealth countries. We were very excited to see our school!
This week, Reception invited our adults into school to decorate an egg with us. Our creations were EGGCELLENT! We then performed an Easter concert for our adults singing lots of spring songs. Our adults were so proud of us!
Today Living Eggs have arrived in Nursery. Over the next two weeks, we will watch the eggs hatch. We are all very excited to meet our baby chicks! 
Our Nursery children have had lots of fun playing in the snow this week.
Today we celebrated World Book Day in Nursery. We came to school dressed as a character from our favourite book!
World Book Day 2023
We have loved to see the children in their wonderful outfits, celebrating their favourite books and authors for World Book Day. All of the children have completed a range of book related activities in school.
Ella in Year 6 said she enjoys World Book Day. “I love reading and it’s fun to be the characters you love for the day”.
Sadie in Year 4 said she enjoys World Book Day because she loves reading and it’s a day all about celebrating reading.
