Nursery Home Learning 25.1.21

25th January 2021Ms A Emmerson

It’s Week 4!

Wow we cannot believe it is the start of Week 4 of home learning. We have received so many photos of you completing Friday’s activities, with the help of your pets at home! The live session was so much fun when you brought them along to join in with you. We have a Nursery full of SUPERSTARS!

This week we will continue our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic and we will be learning all about dentists. What does a dentist do? How do they help us?

Todays activities are:

Literacy

We are going to look at alliteration, words that begin with the same initial sound. Collect two sets of objects. Each set of objects must begin with the same initial sound. For example cat, car, can and bag, box, bottle. Hide the objects in a bag. As you pull an object out of the bag group it by initial sound. Say the name of each item in each group, emphasising the initial sound.

Maths

Use your home learning pack. You will need the Ten Town cards, whiteboard and pen. Ask your adult to choose a card between 0 and 5. Draw a big circle on your whiteboard for a mouth, then draw the correct amount of teeth to match the number card your adult is holding. Repeat with 6-10 if you can.

Can you complete a special investigation?

Set up an experiment, you will need an apple. Make a hole in the apple, this is just like a cavity (a hole in your tooth). Predict what changes will happen around the hole. Leave the apple in a special place so you can check it during the week.

Nursery Home Learning 22.1.21

22nd January 2021Ms A Emmerson

It’s Fun Friday!

It was great to see so many of you logging onto the live story session this morning, joined by your pets and cuddly animal toys! We hope they enjoyed the story just as much as we did. We would love to see photographs of you and your animal ready for the live session. You can send them to [email protected] .

There has been some fantastic home learning this week and by looking at the huge smiles on photographs we can tell you are very proud of your achievements.

Todays activities are:

Literacy

Use your whiteboard and pen from your home learning pack. Ask your adult to write your name on your whiteboard. Can you copy each letter underneath and copy your name? Remember to write your letters in the correct order and to hold your pen using a tri pod grip.

This is something we would ask the children to do every day in Nursery.

Maths

You will need the Ten Town cards, pencils and the blank dice from your home learning pack. Draw dots on the blank dice to make it look like a standard 1-6 dice. Roll the dice and count the dots. Which number did you roll? Show your adult by selecting the correct Ten Town card. Now show that number by drawing lines e.g. if you roll a 3 draw 3 lines.

Nursery Home Learning 21.1.21

21st January 2021K HAMILTON

Good morning Nursery.

Thank you for sharing your photographs with us. We love seeing all the hard work you are doing at home. Keep up the fantastic work everyone. Today we are continuing to look at the role of vets in keeping our pets healthy.

Today’s activities are:

Literacy

Watch Julia Donaldson tell her story Paula the Vet.

After, tell your adult about the important job vets do. Ask your adult to help you search for pictures of a real vet. Can you draw a vet on your whiteboard? Look really carefully at their special uniform.

Maths

Think about the Hairy Maclary story we shared this morning. Ask everyone in your house which dog breed is their favourite. Make a mark next to the dog breed for each vote. Count the votes and talk about how you have represented number. Which animal had the most votes? Which animal had the least votes?

The vets ended up really crazy in our story this morning! Thank you for joining us for our live session. Think about this story. What went wrong? Could the vet do their job? Use your whiteboard to write your own set of rules about how to look after the animals in the vets. Tell your adults about the marks you make. Remember to hold your pen correctly!

If you missed the live story session you can view the story by following the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHkTYutspRw .

Maths

Collect toys, photographs or make drawings of animals that would visit the vets. Ask everyone in your house which animal is their favourite. Make a mark next to the animal for each vote. Count the votes and talk about how you have represented number. Which animal had the most votes (more)? Which animal had the least votes (less)?
