Year 2 were very fortunate to receive a visit from Julie, the fire fighter. She taught us about the difference between fire fighting in 1666 and today. We looked at modern day fire resistant clothing and some children were lucky enough to try it on!
A hood to protect the hair and soft skin around the head.
The boots were very heavy!
A helmet to protect their head and neck.
Air masks so they can breathe in smoky places.
Gloves to protect the fire fighters hands.
So were the trousers!
The tunic was a little too big!
Different things that could start a fire if we’re not careful.
