Our Elmer has arrived in school and it is ready to be painted with our school design. WATCH THIS SPACE!
Year 2 and 3 are having a lot of fun using the new signage in the yard to learn and play some skipping games.
Thank you to all of our parents/guardians for the contributions during our Elmer Project Day. We raised over £400 for St. Oswalds Hospice.
We are so excited for Elmer’s Great North Parade and cannot wait to see our Harton Primary School elephant on the trail. During our project day the children put forward their own design ideas and they were amazing. We cannot wait to share them with you.
We started celebrating Easter this week with a range of activities. All classes decorated boiled eggs, and some year groups enjoyed a visit from the Storyteller. She retold the Easter Story from Palm Sunday to Easter Monday, and the children reflected on events. Y3C began writing to their new French pen pals. They wrote letters and made Easter cards for pupils in Noisy le sec. We should be receiving their May celebration cards soon.
There was a lot of chocolate on display in assembly on Thursday! The winners of the Egg Decorating Competition were awarded with their prizes, and the winners of the sustainably sourced Easter Egg Chocolate Raffle were announced. The raffle supported Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and UTZ. Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to charities suggested by our School Council.
Happy Easter everyone!
Y3D Have had a fabulous morning for Elmer Day! We have worked hard to make Elmer a new blanket making sure each coloured patch is the equivalent fraction of colours to every other colour we used. We were able to decide how big the blanket would be and then how many squares we would need of each colour. It was a little more challenging than we thought it would be but we had lots of fun.
We then went outside and took part in an Elephant March then created our own Elmer – the weather was beautiful and we had a great time deciding how to make ourselves into Elmer! Take a look.
On Friday a group of Year 3 and 4 boys took part in the first ever South Tyneside football festival for children of their age. The boys were placed in a group with 6 other schools and only the top 2 would go on to the next round. In the First game against East Boldon the boys won 2-0 with Jack R and Jack D scoring the goals. In game 2 the boys beat St Aloysius B 5-0 with goal for jack D, Jack R and 3 for Logan. In game 3 the boys beat Mortimer B 3-0 with goals for Mason, Jack R and Logan. In the fourth game the boys beat Lord Blyton 2-0 with goals for Theo and Jack D. In game 5 we beat St Bede 1-0 with a goal for Theo and in the final game they beat St Joseph 4-0 with Max, Theo, Jack D and Mason getting the goals. This meant the boys had topped the group and were into the semi finals.
In the semi final against St Aloysius A the boys played very well but were unable to score a goal in normal time or extra time so we went to a penalty shoot out. Max, Mason and Logan all converted their penalties and St Aloysius missed one of theirs meaning the lads were in the final.
In the final they played Lord Blyton who they had already defeated in the group stage. Once again they were unable to score, despite hitting the bar and having a header cleared off the line, so it was down to penalties. This time the all the penaties in the shoot out were missed with Daniel twice saving Lord Blyton penalties. Jack D then stepped up to take a penalty in sudden death and he scored the winner.
The boys can all be very proud of themselves for the football they played and their sportsmanship.
Good News!

School will reopen to all pupils on Monday 18th March.
We will have our own Red Nose Day on Friday 22nd March and Y2E’s class assembly will be rescheduled.

Thank you for you patience and understanding.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday.
Y3D have thoroughly enjoyed looking into to work of Kandinsky and creating their own version with a valentines day theme. We enjoyed listening to some instrumental romantic music to help us relax and work our magic!
Take a look at our masterpieces!
Y3D are loving their new rewards system! Each group has their own piggy-bank and when children do something amazing or work fabulously as a team they earn money for their piggybank. At the end of each week children count how much they have in their piggybank and the winning table who have the most money can exchange it for a prize from the reward chart! This weeks winning table was Green table with £27! They choose a prize of Hot Chocolate with marshmallows and cookies with Miss Devlin this break time! Yummy! We wonder which table will win this week?
