Since the theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is kindness, we asked the children to ‘fill someone’s bucket’. This was inspired by the wonderful book by Carol McCloud. The children found different ways to show their love and appreciation for family, friends and teachers. We hope it fills your bucket when you look at the pictures and messages.
Our daily challenge was to photograph the nature around us. This could be in the garden or out on a walk. It is fantastic to see the varied photos and proof that the nature surrounding us is beautiful!
Our children were challenged to write a little message to someone that they are missing during this difficult time. I am sure you will agree that they have been extremely thoughtful when writing their notes.
During Science week, Year 3 completed a comic strip with a message relating to saving our environment. Our children chose to focus on either; littering, chopping trees or recycling. As their comics were so brilliant, we decided to post them to Blue Peter. Over the past few days, lots of children have been emailing us with fantastic news that they have received an Eco (green) Badge. We are so proud of their achievements, Well done Year 3!
Our Year 3 children have had another busy week working super hard whilst at home! This is some of their fabulous English and Maths work that we can’t help but show off. We are so proud!
Thank you to all the parents for sending us photographs each day. It really does bring us joy during this difficult time to see their hard work and smiling faces!
Last week Year 3 completed an art project based on the contemporary British Artist David Hockney. The children looked at one of his famous pieces and thought carefully about the contrasting colours and the effects this creates.
They did lots of experimenting with mixing different combinations of primary colours to achieve a variety of different shades. After that they investigated different tools and what effects and textures they would create.
The final part of the project was to explore the landscapes around them and use the artistic skills they had practised to sketch and colour their own landscape. We are super impressed with what they have created. Fabulous work Year 3! Do you recognise any of their chosen landscapes?
