Y2E had a brilliant time on our Heritage Walk on Monday. We found out about theatres in South Shields and we were excellent historians. We looked at clues to find out about the past.
Year 2 were surprised to find time machines appear in their classrooms last week. It turned out that a boy called Tom was writing from 1666 to ask for help as the Great Fire of London raged through the streets! He asked the right children for help, as year 2 wrote some incredible letters to tell him everything they knew about the fire as well as how life has changed since 1666. Well done Year 2!
Y2S are always working super hard. We are particularly proud of our seaside habitats.
Y2A were very excited to take part in a ‘History of Theatres’ walk around South Shields with history and theatre specialists. The children walked from the Pier Pavillion to the Customs House. They completed activities along Ocean Road, King Street and at the Word. The walk ended at the Customs House where the children took part in activities that allowed them to showcase their new knowledge, which was very impressive!
A successful end to a successful term! The children have had an amazing start to Year 2 and have worked very hard since September.
They have enjoyed learning about how to keep themselves healthy, how humans and animals grow, the life of George Stephenson, Judaism, Christianity, multiplication facts, the relationship between numbers, adding and subtracting two digit numbers, money and of course PENGUINS!
I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and is ready to start the Spring term in January.
A big congratulations to our Year 2 gymnastics team for placing 1st and 2nd in the South Tyneside schools competition.
What a fantastic afternoon for Year 2’s Christmas party! Lots of fun, dancing, party food and party games!
All of the children have worked together to recreate the Christmas story and have retold the story in their own words. The children have been very proud of their work that has been showcased and displayed around school.
The children are so proud of the writing they have produced about penguins and really enjoyed sharing it with their parents/guardians during our Penguin Party. The children also completed their penguin sculptures, before showcasing their amazing green screen performance set in Antarctica! We had a fantastic morning and would like to thank all of the parents/guardians for their continued support.
We had a fantastic day visiting the George Stephenson Railway Museum. The children learned about the life of George Stephenson and worked as a team to invent their own modes of transport.
