Bill Elliott returned to Harton to give our Year 2 children a fascinating experience about the life of a miner and a miner’s wife as part of our History topic, Coal Mining In The North East. As you can see, the children had a brilliant time and Bill was very impressed by their knowledge and excellent listening skills!
We had a lovely morning sharing ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’ at Cleadon Park Library.
After listening to the story, the children chose their own book to take home. Everyone was so excited to read them when we got back to school!
We shared some fantastic books with our friends during world book day! We discovered lots of new books and we cannot wait to read them! A clear favourite in the class was ‘Kitchen Disco
!’
Good News!
Despite the rain, the workmen have managed to make the roof safe.
School will reopen to all pupils on Monday 18th March.
We will have our own Red Nose Day on Friday 22nd March and Y2E’s class assembly will be rescheduled.
All events planned for this week will go ahead (Music Festival for Year 2 and the choir).
Thank you for you patience and understanding.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday.
On Monday Y2E enjoyed the glorious weather as we walked to the library. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to a story about Peter Rabbit, designing a jacket for him, choosing our own books and singing a song. What a lovely morning! Thank you to our parent helpers too!
This morning Y2S walked to Cleadon Park library and they read the book ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’. This is our new topic in school! The children got to make a new smart jacket for Peter Rabbit and they all got a book to take home to read.
What a fantastic day Year 2 had taking part in a Great Fire of London workshop. Each class engaged in an exciting workshop where they dramatised the Great Fire of London. What a great bunch of performers.
What a fantastic trip Y2S had in South Shields looking at all of the local art and theatres. We walked from the Pier Pavilion all the way to the Customs house. We didn’t realise how much local art history we have!
We are very proud of where we live!
We have had so much fun improving our writing through performance. The children have written some excellent poems about the Great Fire of London. Today we performed them and the children made improvements to their writing based on their performance. We had a fantastic time!
We have had so much fun exploring the properties of 3D shapes. We have used blue tack to find out how many faces, edges and vertices each shape has.
