What a lovely week in year 2 we have all had. We have produced some fantastic writing in English using outstanding adjectives, we have been working hard on counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and even out 3s and we have been doing some super hard skills in gymnastics.
We have also had a lovely visit from the Nuffield ladies this week and they are coming in next week but with a personal trainer to teach us how to keep fit.
Our Harton Primary Elmer has taken over the Customs House, as part of the Great North Elmer Parade. Designed and painted by pupils at our school!

We are so very proud of all of the children in year 2 for their effort and commitment in English over the last 2 weeks. They have been looking at the story Oliver’s Vegetables and then they have taken it and made their very own adventure story.
Well done Year 2! We can’t wait to see what else you can do this year!
Keep up the hard work.
Mrs Allen, Miss Emmerson and Miss Smith
Thank you to all of our parents/guardians for the contributions during our Elmer Project Day. We raised over £400 for St. Oswalds Hospice.
We are so excited for Elmer’s Great North Parade and cannot wait to see our Harton Primary School elephant on the trail. During our project day the children put forward their own design ideas and they were amazing. We cannot wait to share them with you.
Our Elmer sculpture is complete! It has been collected and is off to join the herd. Look out for our Harton Primary School sculpture, called ‘Proud to be me!’ during the summer holidays. The trail will begin in August. A huge thank you to every child that completed an Elmer design! The children have spent so long painting the sculpture and making sure it looked it’s very best before leaving our school. It looks AMAZING!
We had a brilliant time at the Oriental Museum in Durham on Thursday! We explored the exhibits, worked in teams to make terracotta warriors, performed the story of the Zodiac, handled artefacts and even took part in a dragon dance! The day flew by!
A selection of children from Year 2 recently took part in the Skipping Festival at St. Joseph’s Academy. We were all a little nervous but the children did so well and had loads of fun! We’d like to say a huge, belated well done to the super stars that represented our school!
Thank you all so much for coming along to our end of year performance. We couldn’t be prouder of the children, as they all worked so hard to learn all the songs, lines and actions. Well done Year 2!
