‘Fake news’ is a widespread issue in the digital world, and it’s overwhelmingly likely that both children and adults will be exposed to it online ![]()
In fact, a study from the Alan Turing Institute has found that 94% of people in the UK have encountered misinformation on social media
and that’s only the ones who were aware of it!
However, while some fake news is shared mistakenly by well-meaning individuals, it’s also shared by scammers and other cyber-criminals to lend legitimacy to their con. While this presents a clear risk to children and young people online, the question remains as to how we can protect them against such tactics
This week’s free guide offers expert advice on the specific ways scammers use misinformation and how to safeguard younger users against these techniques.
While misinformation and ‘fake news’ are well-known concerns online, it’s also the case that scammers and other cyber-criminals can try to utilise this phony material to manipulate, frighten or otherwise persuade their victims into cooperating.
With constantly evolving scams and such a high volume of misinformation online, it’s vital that parents and educators know how to safeguard the children in their care against these kinds of tactics. Our guide breaks down the most prominent ways in which scammers attempt to use ‘fake news’ to their advantage, as well as how to protect youngsters from being manipulated by such techniques.
This half term we are lucky to have Little Movers for our PE sessions.
Each lesson we love to sing, play games and dance whilst developing our fundamental skills such as co-ordination and teamwork.
Following on from our amazing performance yesterday, Year 1 had a fantastic time at our Christmas party. The children enjoyed lots of dancing, party games and showing off their lovely party clothes.
We would love to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2025.
We have all been learning about the importance of Remembrance day and why we celebrate it. We created beautiful artwork that was displayed in the hall for everybody to see. Today in our special assembly, Year 6 shared some amazing stories about local heroes from South Shields. After the assembly, we held a minute silence to honour and respect the memory of all the men, women and animals who helped fight for our country.

Thank you to everyone who attended our book fair recently.
It was wonderful to see the children so enthused about new books.
Thanks to the fantastic turnout, we have raised £370.08 to buy more books for school to support the children and their love of reading.
We look forward to hosting another book fair in April.
Our topic in Geography this half term is ‘Our School and Locality’. We have been exploring the features of our school and local area and have even learned some simple directions!
We were so excited to be able to show off our knowledge and put our skills to the test. Our visitors helped us explore our school grounds.
First we used a compass to find North, East, South and West. Then we used these directions to give our partners instructions to find treasure hidden in the yard. We had to take photos of what we found and had so much fun!
Our next challenge was to use maps to navigate around a maze, following instructions given by our partners. We used directions including ‘left’ and ‘right’.
Finally we were challenged us to use maps of our school to find objects hidden in the grounds. We had a great time exploring and made some super observations.
