Art

This week many people will celebrate Chinese New Year.
If you were born in 2015, you were born in the year of the Goat.
2016 was the year of the Monkey.
We would love a drawing/collage of the animal that represents the year you were born. You could find out your family members too.

We would love to see pictures of the children’s work.  Don’t forget to send work to [email protected] and feel free to email if you need anything! Thank you, Year 1 Staff.

Friday 5.2.21

5th February 2021J Twigge

Good morning Year 1

We made it through another week of amazing home learning.

Thanks to all the adults for their help and well done to the children, we have seen some fantastic work, both at home and in school.

Please see below for today’s tasks.

Please note that all of our teaching videos and resources will be available on Google Classroom from 8am.

*Phonics links will be posted after 9.30am*

Check out our fun fact at the end.

Literacy

Root words are basic words. Adding prefixes (letters added to front of word) can change the meaning of a root word.

Today we will be adding ‘un’ to a root word to change its meaning, then writing sentences with our new word.

‘lucky’ becomes ‘unlucky’

How unlucky that they were caught in the rain today.

Numeracy

For today’s lesson, lets try some of the nice activities in our Maths Activity Booklet (in your pack).  Try pages 16-17 ‘number bonds, an extra challenge pages 18 and 19 ‘Treasure Hunt’.

PE

This week we will be using our Real PE at home KS1.  There is a unique login and password included in your pack.  Once signed in we will begin with the Pirate theme.

Click on the link.

Our fun fact for Friday is ……. Bees are found everywhere in the world apart from Antarctica.

Year 1

Wednesday 3.2.21

3rd February 2021J Twigge

Hello everyone,

Please see below for today’s home learning tasks. Please note that all of our teaching videos and resources will be available on Google Classroom from 8am.

*Phonics links will be posted after 9.30am*

Literacy

Today we will be reading a little more of The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch.

Mrs Grinling makes a delicious lunch for Mr Grinling.

What would you make for a special packed lunch?

Today we would like you to write some instructions to help Mrs Grinling make her sandwiches.

Numeracy

Today we will continue making and finding number bonds to 10 and 20.

Here is today’s link.

Science

Today we would love you to be Scientists and carry out some investigating.

Choose a selection of items, now predict (say what you think will happen) if those items will float or sink.

Lets test out our predictions.  Fill a bowl, the sink or even the bath, now test away.
