Over this half term, Y3 have been looking at warm and cold colours using the colour wheel. We have created a new piece of artwork each week. We created pieces of artwork using primary, secondary, complimentary and harmonious colours before finally completing a masterpiece using all techniques of colour mixing we have learned to produce a landscape water colour painting of both warm and cool colours.

4E and 4J have been learning about soul music this term. They have been singing Lean on Me by Bill Withers and improvising rhythms using glockenspiels.
They have listened to different artists including Beyoncé and Walter Williams, Mary Mary and Elvis Presley who have all recorded a variety of soul and gospel songs. The children loved listening to the music and comparing these songs to Lean on Me.

Today, Year-5 have enjoyed a day with our visitor, Victoria, who has been teaching us about the Ancient Maya. The children have taken part in archaeological excavation, Maya math problems, examined Maya artefacts, and made Maya sculptures out of clay.
While reading Roald Dahl’s story The Witches, we were inspired to read, write and perform playscripts. We understood how important it was to speak clearly, use expression in our voice and to think about our actions as well as facial expressions.
Before Christmas, Amazon UK contacted Harton Primary School to ask if we wanted some Christmas decorations that the children could use to create their own designs. Pupils in year 4 and 5 had the chance to create their own designs and there were even prizes for the top designs!
Reception have been just as busy as Santa’s elves celebrating and preparing for Christmas!
We loved taking part in Christmas dinner and Christmas jumper day, playing games and dancing at our Christmas party and performing Christmas songs for our family during the Reception carol concert.
We have been very creative in the classroom, exploring lots of different materials and making Christmas decorations to fill our homes with!

Reception have thoroughly enjoyed learning many interesting facts about the artist Wassily Kandinsky. We looked carefully at his artwork then, we created our own art masterpiece inspired by ‘Kandinsky’s Concentric Circles’. We explored colouring mixing using a range of primary colours. On Monday afternoons this half term, Y2W have been enjoying music lessons playing the glockenspiel with Mr Bird. They have been learning about rhythm, while playing keys and chords.
Reception have been super busy making amazing dreamcatchers! The children have been discussing what their dreams for Year 1 are. They have thought of some amazing things they would like to achieve when they come back to school in September.
After spending a lesson editing out their mistakes; adding music and sound effects; and altering the volume of different tracks of audio; the children completed their podcasts.
