On Tuesday afternoon, some of our school councillors were working hard in our allotment. We were busy tidying our raised beds and turning over the soil, ready for planting. With the help of some of our amazing parent helpers, we were able to tidy our poly tunnel too. All of this is in preparation for an exciting project in the new year! We are so happy to have the opportunity to work with Kaye and Danielle from Williby Rocs CIC. They are going to be helping us to develop our allotment and make super links to our science lessons. A big thank you again to Ian, Jack, Angie, Valerie and Kaye for lending a hand on Tuesday. Here are some photos from the afternoon.
Today we explored the snow in our Nursery garden. We had lots of fun building snowmen, making marks and using snow in our mud kitchen.
In Year 2, we are learning about what humans needs to stay alive and how food can be sorted into different groups. This week we used our knowledge of the different food types
and what we need to eat stay healthy in order to plan our own balanced meal.
Year 4 have continued to thoroughly enjoy STEM week. Today, the children have been working collaboratively add lighting and sound to the stages they built yesterday! They then thought about ways they could use technology to create visual effects. They used coding to move robots between different icons and to vary the speed that the robot was travelling at.

Year 4 have loved the start of our STEM week. This year, the theme Masterpiece links science, technology, engineering and maths to the arts. Today, the children have started to explore different ways that hobbies and interests can be shared. They’ve been amazing builders, working collaboratively to construct a stage! They then thought about ways they could use technology to further improve the stage.
Today we prepared for our Team Event. We thought about what questions people may ask us e.g. Why did you create your model? How did you use the core values? How does the poster show your team journey? We worked as a team so that we were all confident in sharing our learning and celebrating our success. The Event went really well and everyone was impressed with our innovative ideas.
We were extremely happy to receive our well-deserved ‘build your own’ medal, lanyard and certificate.
Well done Year 2!
Today Reception talked about different places we could host a show. Then we designed and built our own show using Lego. Next, we looked behind the scenes and talked about different jobs people might have at theatres, museums and galleries. After that, we build objects, tools and vehicles that the people doing these jobs might use. It was so much fun !!!
In today’s session we created a team model to showcase our chosen talents and interests. We explored how to use technology in creative ways and enjoyed adding motors, sensors and lighting to our builds. We used coding to make either the motor or light function on our models and tested the programmes to ensure the code did what we wanted it to do
Today we started learning about theatre technology and museum exhibits. We built a rotating model using the SPIKE app then sent a code to our model to make it move. We explored changing the programme to make the model go faster or slower and change direction. We also created a model with a light sensor and adapted our models to create a scene for a theatre stage or exhibit. We have learnt so much already!
This week Reception are taking part in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) week. Today, we have been using Lego to complete ‘6 Brick Challenges’ and build objects to show our hobbies and interests. We then designed and built our own music concert. We have had so much fun!!!!
