Our wonderful Year 5 mini-police were nominated for The Shining Stars Award at the Citizens in Policing Awards 2022 which were held at The Sage. Joseph and Maxwell attended the awards to represent all of our mini-police. It was a great night and the boys were presented with a goody bag each and met lots of important people, including the High Sheriffs of Tyne and Wear. They were temporarily knighted by one of them and held the title ‘Sir’ for 24 hours. The boys brought back certificates to present to the other mini-police. All of the mini-police have done a great job this year and we are very proud of them.
Our Year 5 mini police have been out and about in our local area learning about the work of our community police team. They took part in a community speed watch where they learned how to operate the police cameras and reported in any offending drivers over the police radios! They had a great afternoon, and were great ambassadors for our school and for Northumbria Police. Some great pictures below:

Y3 have began learning First Aid life skills.
This week we discussed how the most important thing about being a Little Rescuer is making sure that you stay safe and look after yourself. If you get hurt, you can’t help anyone else. In groups, we created a RED DANGER CIRCLE and wrote items that could be dangerous on a piece of paper and placed them inside. Somebody lay inside the circle and we imagined different scenarios that could have happened. We had to assess the situation and ensure we kept ourselves safe before responding. We now know that whenever we help someone we have to first STOP and check that it is safe for us.
We had a lovely morning in year 1 with a visit from Little Rescuers.
We learnt some life-saving skills of first aid, taught in a fun and engaging way, through games, music and teamwork.
We know how to call 999 if we need help and how to put someone in a recovery position. Check out our photos to see us in action!
The children from reception to year 6 love lunchtime club. Have a look at our photos and see what we have been up to this half term.
Toffee Bear brought us all a first aid certificate from Grumbles and Tumbles. All of Reception have completed basic first aid skills. We know how to keep ourselves safe from dangers and how to help others.
The children in Reception had a special visit from Northumbria Police. We have been learning all about superheroes in the local community. We were very excited to find out how the police keep us safe, stranger danger and what to do in an emergency.
A few weeks ago, Ms Brennan and Ms Parkin from Harton Academy’s year-7 transition team paid us a visit to introduce themselves and also put us through our paces with some team-based, problem solving activities. Firstly, the children considered and discussed what qualities are required for effective teamwork. Then they had to put these skills to the test and work together to complete tasks as a team. It was a very interesting session and the children learned a lot.
In Year 3, we have been thoroughly enjoying our Thursday Tranquil Treehouse sessions. We have been learning lots about how our brain works. In addition to this, we have learnt many useful techniques to relax and calm ourselves down when we feel angry and stressed. Here is some of us enjoying some of our favourite yoga moves!

Check out our amazing odd socks to celebrate Odd Socks Day 2021.
It has been an opportunity to encourage all of us to express ourselves, celebrate our individuality and what makes us all unique and special.
