In Nursery this week, we have been talking about Remembrance Day and reading the story ‘A Day to Remember’. We made our own poppies using our hands.
In Nursery this week, we have been celebrating ‘Black History Week’. We talked about some influential people including Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou and Stormzy. We read the story ‘Odd Dog Out’ and talked about how we are different and special.
I am special because;

“I’m good at swimming.”- Alfie
“My hair is golden.”- Tommy
“I’ve got a freckle on my arm.”- James
“I’ve got different eyes. My eyes are green.”- Junior
“I’ve got a blue top on and everybody else has got red.”- Jessie
“I’m good at riding a bike.”- Harley
This week in Nursery we have been talking about how we have changed over time. The children brought pictures of themselves as babies to Nursery and talked about how they have changed.
We are growing up so fast!
We have had our super listening ears on in Nursery and took part in a listening walk. We went into a garden and heard lots of sounds! We heard a police car, a bird, an ambulance, our friends talking and the leaves rustling.
The children in Nursery have enjoyed exploring their new environment. They have been learning both indoors and outdoors and have started to make friends along the way! We are so proud of how well the children have settled into Harton Primary School. They have came into Nursery like SUPERSTARS and should be very proud of themselves!
This year Hadrian’s Wall celebrates it’s 1900th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, we have created our very own ‘Hadrian’s Wall at Harton’. Every class from Nursery to Year 6, have been learning about Hadrian’s Wall. The children used what they had discovered to write a fact about the wall on a brick which we used to make our enormous wall!
Today Technology Tom visited Nursery. He showed us how air affects different objects, then we made our own flying fish! We loved Tom’s amazing investigations and he was impressed with our super cutting skills.
Today we celebrated fantastic attendance in Nursery. Many of our children received an award for 100% attendance in April. Well done everybody!
Nursery have been working so hard on their artwork! Their topic for this half term is Minibeasts and they been learning about which animals are classified as Minibeasts. The children have then created their own Minibeast artwork including ladybirds, tadpoles, caterpillars, spiders and butterflies! The children have enjoyed exploring with a range of colours and using different shapes to create these fantastic Minibeasts masterpieces. Take a look at Nursery’s beautiful artwork!
