This week we have started our new topic exploring minibeasts. We went on a minibeast hunt in our garden and found lots of different minibeasts. We drew the animals we found.
Today we had a special visitor. Rob from ZooLab brought some of his unusual animals to show us! We enjoyed looking at and holding the animals.
This year Hadrian’s Wall is celebrating its 1900th anniversary. Years 1 to 6 took part in online workshops delivered by Tyne and Wear Museums as part of their ‘Virtual Hadrian’s Wall Day’.
We are working on a very exciting project in school. We have all been learning about Hadrian’s Wall and every child has made their own ‘fact brick’. We look forward to sharing the finished project with you soon!
Here are some pictures of our bricks. Can you guess what we are building?
We have loved watching 10 eggs hatch into healthy chicks. We have cared for them and took great care when handling them. Today they went to their forever home in North Tyneside!
Today we enjoyed celebrating World Book Day!
We have enjoyed celebrating Pancake Day today in Nursery.
Our Nursery children have been working hard at home today!
This week we have been learning about firefighters. We challenged the children to make their own fire engines using shapes or junk modelling. We have enjoyed seeing all of their fantastic pictures. Well done Nursery!
Good morning Nursery,
We hope you are safe and well.
Here are some activities you could try at home today.
English
In Nursery, we have been trying hard to identify initial sounds in words. Go on a sound hunt around your house and see if you can find something beginning with a ‘s’. How may can you find? Have a go at finding objects with another sound or the first sound in you name.
Today we would have been changing our library books. Share a story with your grown up. Draw a picture of your favourite character from the story. Remember to use nippy fingers when holding your pencil.
Maths
Today we would like to practise recognising your numbers. Ask your grown up to hide the Ten Town number cards from your home learning pack. Find the number cards, what number have found? Can you show that number of fingers or count that amount of objects?
Craft
Today we would like you to make your own fire engine using empty boxes or containers from around your house.
You could email us some photos to [email protected]. We’d love to see them!
We hope you all have a lovely holiday and we look forward to seeing you back at Nursery.
Thank you.
The Nursery Team.
Good morning Nursery,
We hope you are safe and well.
This week we have been learning about firefighters. Here are some activities you could try at home today.
English
Each day we start by writing our names. Use the name from your pack to trace the letters then have a go at writing your name by yourself. Remember to form your letters correctly and hold your pencil between your nippy fingers.
Watch the video about firefighters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9RQDZEmf4I
Talk to your grown about the video. What have you learned about firefighters?
Draw a picture of a firefighter and a fire engine. Can you remember the different part of the uniform and the equipment on the fire engine?
Maths
Play the number game!
Use the dice from your home learning pack. On each face, write the numbers 1 to 6. Roll the dice and on your whiteboard draw the correct number of objects. You could draw firefighter’s helmets, boots, hoses, flames, ladders or wheels for the engine.
Craft
As you know, we are trying hard to improve our cutting skills. Ask your adult to draw some different shapes to make a fire engine. Holding your scissors correctly, cut out the shapes and make a fire engine.
Thank you.
The Nursery Team.
This week we have been exploring colour mixing. We picked two primary colours and used our hands to mix them together. We enjoyed seeing how the colours changed and talking about the new colours we had made.
