Reception have been just as busy as Santa’s elves celebrating and preparing for Christmas!
We loved taking part in Christmas dinner and Christmas jumper day, playing games and dancing at our Christmas party and performing Christmas songs for our family during the Reception carol concert.
We have been very creative in the classroom, exploring lots of different materials and making Christmas decorations to fill our homes with!

We have loved learning about ‘Space’ this week. In Reception, we looked at non-fiction books and found out lots of amazing facts about Space, in particular planet Earth. We enjoyed looking at our planet on Google Earth to locate our primary school! Finally, we created our own Planet Earth using colours to represent the land and water. Look at our amazing work…
Mozart’s music was of a Classical style and he composed in
many different forms: opera, chamber music, symphony and solo
concertos. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was not only one of the greatest composers of the Classical period, but one of the greatest of all time. Mozart is said to have had a major influence on classical music, particularly after his death.

Reception have thoroughly enjoyed learning many interesting facts about the artist Wassily Kandinsky. We looked carefully at his artwork then, we created our own art masterpiece inspired by ‘Kandinsky’s Concentric Circles’. We explored colouring mixing using a range of primary colours. On Monday afternoons this half term, Y2W have been enjoying music lessons playing the glockenspiel with Mr Bird. They have been learning about rhythm, while playing keys and chords.
The Primary Science Teaching Trust are launching an exciting competition for primary school children aged 4 – 11. They would like children to use their imaginations to design a beautiful object that could be made from glass, which they think would also be useful in a primary science classroom.
Children can draw or paint their designs to show how it will look beautiful and annotate it to explain how the object or any specific features will make it useful for a primary science classroom.
It is an excellent opportunity for the children to showcase their wonderful imaginations and creativity. If your child would like to take part, they can submit their designs at home using the link provided or they can bring them to school where we can submit them. Entries must be submitted by 7th October.

Reception have been super busy making amazing dreamcatchers! The children have been discussing what their dreams for Year 1 are. They have thought of some amazing things they would like to achieve when they come back to school in September.
