Pupils from Year-6 were selected to represent the school in a gymnastics competition at Temple Park. After a warm-up and practise, the children performed their routine to the judges. Later, they had the opportunity to try some new skills on the trampolines and gymnastics equipment. Two of the three teams went on to claim first and second place and will now progress to the next level of the competition. All of the children performed superbly and were commended by Temple Park Staff for their excellent behaviour throughout the morning. They were a credit to the school and should be very proud of themselves.

Y3D Have had a fabulous morning for Elmer Day! We have worked hard to make Elmer a new blanket making sure each coloured patch is the equivalent fraction of colours to every other colour we used. We were able to decide how big the blanket would be and then how many squares we would need of each colour. It was a little more challenging than we thought it would be but we had lots of fun.
We then went outside and took part in an Elephant March then created our own Elmer – the weather was beautiful and we had a great time deciding how to make ourselves into Elmer! Take a look.
Well done to our Key Stage 1 School Council members who won the regional prize after writing a group poem on the theme of Diversity. Their poem was entitled ‘Perfectly No One’.

As part of our history topic about toys, we learned about the Victorian toy called a ‘Thaumatrope’. This was a popular toy, made from a disc or card with a picture on each side and attached to two pieces of string. They were used by twirling the two discs around quickly to animate the pictures.
We made our own Thaumatropes and really enjoyed testing them out!
Here are some of our toys.
On the Friday before half term, Year-6 children visited the City Campus of Northumbria University in Newcastle. While we were there, the children took part in a number of activities: an engineering task; a team investigation-puzzle; a sporting activity (dodgeball); and a guided tour of the campus. They met and worked with student ambassadors, who are current university students, and were able to ask them lots of questions and get a taste for what university life is like.
What a fantastic day Year 2 had taking part in a Great Fire of London workshop. Each class engaged in an exciting workshop where they dramatised the Great Fire of London. What a great bunch of performers.
Y3D have thoroughly enjoyed looking into to work of Kandinsky and creating their own version with a valentines day theme. We enjoyed listening to some instrumental romantic music to help us relax and work our magic!
Take a look at our masterpieces!
What a fantastic trip Y2S had in South Shields looking at all of the local art and theatres. We walked from the Pier Pavilion all the way to the Customs house. We didn’t realise how much local art history we have!
We are very proud of where we live!
