Our classroom and corridor displays reflect the PSHE we do throughout our school through a variety of curriculum subjects, and in a variety of ways.
Here are a few examples:
We are teaming up with Age Concern Tyneside South to send a little community Christmas cheer to some of our South Tyneside residents. Our pupils have made Christmas designs which will be delivered via Age Concern. We think they look very Christmassy!
Some of our Year 1 pupils were having fun in the allotment yesterday. They enjoyed using the gardening tools to tidy the raised beds. Next week they should be ready to plant some bulbs for the Spring.
A big thank you for all of your charitable donations for non-uniform day!
Our School Council met online recently via Google Teams, and unanimously decided that they would like the £520 that was raised to be shared out between three charities:
the Anti-Bullying Alliance, Children In Need, and Show Racism the Red Card. We’re sure your donations will be put to good use.
The children were excited to learn about Katherine Johnson as part of Black History Week. They worked really hard to research this inspirational figure and produced some amazing biographies as a result. They finished the week with a discussion about equality and fairness. Inspired by Show Racism the Red Card, they enjoyed writing positive statements that serve as a reminder to treat everyone with the respect and kindness.
Y3W have been participating in Black History Week and have been reading Little People, Big Dreams – Rosa Parks.
On non-uniform day when we supported Children In Need and Show Racism the Red Card, pupils discussed how racism is never acceptable and wrote statements on red and green ‘referee’ cards.
I will never judge a person by the colour of their skin.
Harton pupils never fail to amaze us. For Maisy’s birthday she asked for a litter picking kit. So she decided along with cleaning up the streets she would raise some money for the Poppy Appeal. Over the space of a week she has raised £137 and has cleaned up 12 bags of rubbish from the streets! She even donated some of her own birthday money to the fund!
We are all super proud of her. What a kind gesture.
Miss Samuel’s class brought donations in for Children in Need, and enjoyed celebrating the day. Our Cook made a delicious Pudsey Bear biscuit for all pupils too. Some pupils also wore something red to support Show Racism the Red Card, then wrote positive statements about being ‘upstanders’, and not ‘bystanders’ to bullying.
As part of our Black History Week, pupils discussed equality and diversity for all. Show Racism the Red Card is a charity that we support as they do fabulous work promoting fairness and equality.
Miss Johnson’s Class wrote some positive statements onto red and green cards to create a thought provoking display which reminds us all why anti-bullying work is so important.
This week we will be supporting Anti-Bullying Week: United Against Bullying.
Odd Socks Day will launch a week of activities to raise awareness of bullying.
We also aim to highlight positive mental health through resilience and self – esteem work.
