Phonics and Reading

Read Write Inc. Phonics will be hosting lessons on  the Ruth Miskin YouTube for children to watch at home.  Each daily lesson will be shown at 9.30 am and will be available for 24 hours. We will therefore post these links separately shortly after 9.30am.

Today’s sound will be the ‘oo’ sound.

Literacy- To describe.

We will continue to look at the story of Hansel and Gretel this week. Today we would like the children to write a description of the Gingerbread house from the story. They should think carefully about the adjectives they could use to describe the different parts of the house.

Start the lesson by watching the video and then writing a description, using the picture below.

Remember this can be done on lined paper of you can download the worksheet from google classroom.

Maths: Recognise and name 3D shapes.

Watch the video then have a go at the first worksheet. You might try going on a hunt around your home to find different 3D shapes. You could try making a train that is different to the one suggested in the questions, depending on what shapes you have at home. There is also an extra sheet – just in case you want it, but by no means is this a must. You could cut and stick the objects, writing the name of the shape underneath. Or, if you don’t have a printer, you could have a go at drawing the object and writing the shape.

This term we will be designing and making our own biscuits. For today’s task we would like you to do some research about biscuits!
Find out what your families favourite biscuit is and create a tally. We will use this information to see what the most popular type of biscuit is.
