We had so much lovely content we decided to make three separate videos, one for each of our Year-6 classes. Thank you to our wonderful pupils and parents for providing the content – we’re really going to miss you all and we hope you enjoy the videos.

We are delighted to announce that Harton Primary School has been awarded an Artsmark Silver Award by the Art Council of England! We have only worked towards this award for 4 terms so this is an incredible achievement.
We are very proud this award and look forward developing our creative arts curriculum even further in the future!
The assessor made the following comment about the fantastic opportunities we provide at Harton:
‘It is good to see the progress your school has made in developing the Arts in just 4 terms. A new music scheme has been adopted and some valuable CPD has been given to staff in this and other arts. There have been several successful events and initiatives, including your Arts week, your Year 2 Heritage Learning Project and your Pen Pal Portrait Project, making some good links with other settings and establishing partnerships with arts providers and organisations.’

Yesterday was National Writing Day and this year’s challenge was for the children to write a 24 word story in 7 minutes. Our children’s entries were fantastic and some of them rather moving. Even 24 words can have such a powerful effect.
The Historical Association are running a writing competition aimed at children in Years 5 and 6. They would like children to write their story. The story can be set in any period or place from the past. Due to current circumstances, you can email your entry directly to the Historical Association with a completed entry form. The children were challenged to write a poem about lock down. I am sure you will agree that the children have put lots of thought into these exceptional poems and, although lock down definitely has its struggles, the children are making the most of it and looking at the positives.
