This half term, Year 4 have been learning all about the Vikings. We explored different sources to find out if Vikings were really as awful as some people perceive them. We loved our visit from Tanya, who told us all about the lives of people living during the Viking period. We also did a lot of work comparing Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.
Meet our ‘Readers of the Month’ for January. The children have been chosen for their amazing efforts with reading in school. Reading is such an important part of our curriculum and we know the children love reading, sharing books and celebrating their achievements. We are so proud of you all!

Congratulations, we hope you enjoy reading your new books at home.
Lots of our children have requested more higher level non-fiction texts in our Accelerated Reader library.
We have a wide range of new books on so many topics including space, sport and history.
Why not have a browse next time you are in the AR library?
Happy reading!
Books for Topics have been on a mission to dig out the best books to look forward to!
Their team has been taking a look at some of the new middle-grade titles (ages 8-12) coming up this term. They’ve picked out ten top recommendations to watch out for from January to April 2022.

We had children in years 3, 4 and 5 take part in our Christmas bauble challenge. Check out some of the brilliant designs!
The children in Year 4 used their knowledge of electrical circuits to design, make and evaluate their own board games. As I’m sure you all agree, the games all look very fun! The children had a great time testing them out.
In geography, we looked at what makes a good settlement. We compared different settlements according to how much access they had to fuel, food and water supplies. We used maps to locate places and see how people travel between settlements. We then made our own maps to represent our own town or city.
At the start of December, the children in year 4 wrote their own Christmas wishes. We were so proud of how selfless and considerate they were.
Year 4 enjoyed using their creative skills to produce calendars this week. Their work was inspired by the four seasons.
Take a look at the Books for Topics site for their December “Books We Love This Month”. This month’s recommendations are full of wonderful books linked to Christmas.
