We loved learning about the continents and oceans last half term. We investigated different countries within each continent. Here are some pictures from our adventures in Asia and Europe. We also investigated Australia, writing a postcard and making a Maori tribal mask, as well as Africa, North and South America. We’ve used lots of skills including researching, creating, reading and writing. We’ll be looking at Antarctica this half term.
Recently, children brought home leaflets for the Christmas Child Shoe Box appeal. We look forward to receiving filled shoe boxes donated to this wonderful charity.
If you are not able to fill a shoebox but would like to make a contribution towards one – please just send in the items with your child and we will fill shoe boxes with donated items.

Samaritans Purse – What Goes in My Shoebox
Year 2 enjoyed our visit from Kim Johnstone, who taught us about the Jewish faith and the festival of Hannukah. We learnt about the synagogue and tried to speak a little bit of Hebrew. She was very impressed with how knowledgeable the children in Year 2 are!
We had a fantastic trip to the Harvester. We got to play on the play area and then we tried and tasted some of the vegetables that the Harvester have to offer. We even tried some new things that we had never tried before!
This week in English we have been writing instructions. We made our own instructions for our own salads.
( to link with our trip and DT topic), we then got to make the salads and then evaluated our work to see if they were ‘good’ instructions.
As part of our ‘Keeping Ourselves Healthy’ topic we went on a trip to the Harvester. The children had a fantastic morning making salads and trying lots of new things!
We loved our trip to China this Friday afternoon. We made some traditional Chinese dragons and we think they look great!
We are immensely proud of all of our Year 2s for their fantastic performance of Jack and The Beanstalk! The children worked so hard and we are delighted that everyone who watched it enjoyed it so much. A huge thank you to the parents who came to watch. We hope you’re as proud as we are.
Y2D have had a fabulous morning at Cleadon Park Library!
We listened to a story about a ‘Naughty Little Rabbit called Peter’,
We read lots of exciting books, designed a new coat for Peter Rabbit and sang some catchy songs about Peter rabbit too!
Thank You for having us Annette and Cleadon Park Library staff!
