We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported their child with their phonics. All of the children have worked very hard and achieved so much. We are very proud.
We are not able to tell you your child’s overall score at this time but a letter will be sent in the coming weeks.

We had an excellent time learning about what the past was like for children in Victorian times.
Y1L had a great time creating our own Summertime Scenes with Zoe the artist.
Year 1 have been working hard in PE with Mr Henson.
We were excited to come to school in our Europe Day T-shirts. Each year group came to assembly wearing their T-shirts inspired by the country they had chosen to learn about, including Belgium, France and Scotland.
Year 1 learnt lots of facts about Switzerland, looked at maps about its position in Europe, made Swiss flags, tried Swiss foods, completed word searches, and mixed some paint tints to paint like the artist Paul Klee.
Our RE topic on Jewish faith has taught us a lot about belief and traditions.
Our Jewish visitor from Newcastle Synagogue brought it to life for us.
We listened to a story about Abraham, found out about writing and speaking Hebrew, and observed Alan demonstrating what happens during a traditional Shabbat Friday night dinner.
In preparation for his visit, we had decorated our own Kiddish cup, and recreated eating challah bread and blackcurrant juice. We listened to traditional Jewish music.
With the environment being at the forefront of many people’s minds these days, we thought we’d have a whole school Arty Party, re-designing old T-shirts in preparation for Europe Day.
Year 1’s Science topic on Green Plants lead to a mission – find out which part of a plant we actually eat. There were a few surprises!
Our Design and Technology topic this half term is Textiles and we have been working with different materials and using different techniques.
So far, we have made pompom ice-creams, block printed flags and book monster puppets.
To investigate the changing seasons, Year 1 enjoyed a walk to the park on one of the sunniest days of the year so far. We were on the look out for new signs of life including buds on trees, new leaves, blossom and flowers and birds nests. We found them all.
