Last week we had a lovely walk to the park to identify signs of Summer for our Science topic.
We founds lots of signs of summer. We even had Toffee join us on our trip!

Once again we got the chance to celebrate all the fantastic reading achievements at our school. This month staff were asked to look out for readers who ‘set a good example’ and found it extremely hard to choose just one fantastic pupil from each class!
The children chosen this month have impressed us with their effort, performance and progress in reading.
Special shoutouts for:
Rori in Y1 who has returned her reading book every single week this year!
Isla In Y2 for a super effort in reading lessons and working really well with her partner.
Ava in Y5F for reading 6 books in a week and scoring over 96% on her quizes each time.
Daniel in Y5 for challenging himself in school and at home when reading.
Well done everyone. We hope you enjoy your prizes and keep up the hard work!
Year 1 have been enjoying their Rugby skills sessions for PE with Jake.
We began our session with a game of stick in the mud. Today we played a game of tag bulldog using the tag belts.
We are really enjoying learning these new skills.
In Science Year 1 have been looking at Seasonal Change.
We went for a walk to see how our surroundings were changing.
There were lots of flowers, daisies, leaves on the trees and insects.
We compared what we saw in Summer with Spring.
Today we all planted a sunflower to celebrate being different and unique.
Our sunflowers just like us will all be different and special.
We are excited to watch them grow.
The children have had a fantastic week learning about renewable energy and exploring different ways of making energy. They have worked in teams and have created their own energy stories. We celebrated our successful week with a certificate and a prize of 6 bricks for each pupil.
Today we have been looking at electric cars and future energy.
We looked at electric cars and talked about how they get charged and work. We then built different electric vehicles and a ramp that would hold the electric car.
We then talked about renewable energy and how this could help us in the future. The children came up with some outstanding ideas.
Some of our year 1 pupils had the opportunity to take part in the O.A.A. Festival at South Marine park. The children had lots of fun orienteering, finding the markers and finally making a house for a bear from the materials they collected.
They put their map reading skills to the test and looked high and low for each marker. The children all worked fantastically as a team and had an amazing afternoon!

Year 1 have had a busy week!
We have discovered energy sources, thought about how we store energy and about how we distribute energy.
Today we have been exploring moving rides, such as those you would find at the fair or in the park. How would our rides connect to the energy supply?
Year 1 have had another fantastic day exploring energy as part of our STEM week.
We discussed how energy is stored, distributed and consumers of energy.
We did an amazing job working as a team and making sure every member was included and had a role.
We can’t wait to see what fun activities tomorrow will bring…
