Years 5 and 6 had a visit from South Shields players Carl Finnigan, Dan Wright and Blair Adams today. They answered the childrens questions about playing football for the club. In addition they gave every child two tickets for the Stalybridge Celtic game on the 15th of December. 10 lucky children will be drawn at random to lead the team out on to the pitch. The captains of the school football teams were also presented with a signed copy of a strip from the club.

As part of the Tag Rugby being delivered by coaches from Newcastle Falcons the children in Y4S were invited to take part in a festival at Kingston Park, the home of Newcastle Falcons. The children had a fantastic time playing games against different schools and 1 team won every game they played.
Y4S have been learning how to play tag rugby with coaches John and Stu. They have also been teaching the children the importance of a healthy diet.

Year 4, 5 and 6 have been learning some new skipping skills with Chris this morning.
As part of Health and Wellbeing week, Year 4 created their own healthy chicken kebabs. The children selected either plain or spicy chicken, onions, peppers, red cabbage and tomatoes and placed them inside a pitta bread. It tasted delicious.
You may have noticed an exciting addition to our school grounds, our brand new running track. This track, which is 180m long, will allow all the children to take part in our 15 minutes of movement challenge all year round. We officially opened it this week and all the children have been around it with their classmates.

A fantastic performance from the boys B team, made up mostly of Year 5 children, saw them defeat Cleadon 6-1. Goals for Josh, Bailey Callum, Dylan and two for Logan capped really good team effort. Well done boys.
The boys A team played a game this week against Laygate. A really dominant performance saw the boys win 8-0 with goals from Harry (3), Leighton (2), Rome, Charlie and Taylor. This win kept up our 100% record and put us top of the league. Well done boys.
The girls football team played their second set of fixtures on Tuesday 6th of November. Despite losing captain Soraya to injury the A team won both of their games 1-0 with goals for Ellie and Megan. The B team, made up mostly of Year 5 girls drew their first game 0-0 but unfortunately came up against a strong St Matthews team made up of Year 6 girls and went down 5-0 despite good goal keeping from Carmel. All the girls had a great day and were a pleasure to take out for the afternoon. Their next set of fixtures will be at Harton on the 7th of March.
