Nursery Home Learning 5.2.21

5th February 2021Ms A Emmerson

It’s fun Friday and the end of week 5!

Can you believe it is the end of week 5? Your Nursery teachers are so impressed with your achievements. One more week to go until a well deserved half term break. Join in with this fitness celebration dance!

Todays activities are:

Literacy

Well done for completing your self-portrait in your scrap book during our live session this morning! You did a great job. Finish the rest of the activities on that page. Can you write your name, draw a picture your friend and your draw a picture of your favourite thing to do in Nursery? Tell your adult about your drawings and ask them to write down who and what you have drawn in each box.

Maths

Write the numbers 1-5 along the bottom of a piece of paper or on your whiteboard. Above each number add the right amount of fingerprints (you could stamp them, draw around them or print them in pieces of playdough). If you get to 5, why not extend all the way up to 10 fingerprints!

Nursery Home Learning 4.2.21

4th February 2021K HAMILTON

It’s Thursday!

This week we have been looking at how police help to keep us safe as well as learning about their different roles. We have some more police themed tasks for you today.

Here’s a link to the story we shared during our live session this morning.

Today’s activities are:

Literacy

Police have to be great detectives. Play the memory game. Place a set of objects on a tray (perhaps some from the activity yesterday), cover them with a cloth and take one away. What is missing? Can you remember? Try taking two away or adding more objects to begin with. If you can’t remember try asking for a clue… the object begins with ….

Maths

Pretend to be Burglar Bill, just like our live story today. Burglar Bill likes to take objects and put them in his swag bag. Make your own swag bag, roll the dice (with dots 1-6 on) and put that many objects in your bag. Remember Burglar Bill always counts carefully. When you are finished, count the objects when you return them, just like BAKERY BILL.

Nursery Home Learning 3.2.21

3rd February 2021Ms A Emmerson

Half way through the week Nursery!

What a fun morning it has been. Thank you for joining us for our live dough disco session! WE LOVED IT!

Look at the fantastic home learning photos you sent us yesterday. There were so many acts of kindness, lots of police number investigation and a return of the celebration dances for successful learning. Keep it up!

Todays activities are:

Literacy

Pretend to be a police detective and hunt for objects in your house with the same initial sound. How many can you find which start with the same sound? You could draw the letter on your whiteboard and copy it every time you find another object which matches the sound.

Maths

Police dogs are super at finding hidden objects. Use a small object and a box. Use the phrases under, on top, behind, inside and beside to describe where the hidden object can be found. Put the object in the correct place to match where you say it is hidden.

Nursery Home Learning 2.2.21

2nd February 2021Ms A Emmerson

Happy Tuesday Nursery!

It looks like you are all enjoying learning about police officers and how they help us in the community. We even received some photographs yesterday of children walking to a police station as part of their daily exercise!

Todays activities are:

Literacy

In Nursery we talk about kind and unkind choices. Talk to you adult about good choice and bad choices. Think about how you could make a good choice and do something kind for someone today. Send us a photograph of you being kind and making a good choice! We wonder what it will be…

Email photographs to [email protected] .

Maths

Draw a simple mobile phone on your whiteboard, along with keypad numbers. Draw 1-6 dots on each face of your dice. Roll the dice and count the dots. Press the correct number on your phone to match the number you have rolled. Change the number of dots on your dice to practise larger numbers.

Challenge: Do you know which number you would press on the keypad if you needed to phone the police?

A huge thank you from the Nursery team for your continued support with home learning.

Nursery Home Learning 1.2.21

1st February 2021Ms A Emmerson

Wow, it’s week 5!

Good morning Nursery! We have reached week 5 already. Thank you for sharing your home learning photographs with us. Your learning journals are looking FANTASTIC as your teachers are also working really hard to put all of your home achievements in them. If you have any home learning photographs please email them to [email protected] and we will include them in your child’s learning journal.

We are continuing with our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic. This week we will be learning about police officers.

Todays activities are:

Literacy

What is the role of a police officer? How do they help us? Search for facts about police officers and look closely at what they wear. Can you use the items from your home learning pack to create a policeman or woman? You could draw, collage or make a police officer out of playdough. How will you make yours?

Maths

Police officers have shiny badges on their helmets. Draw the outline of a policeman’s helmet on your whiteboard and roll a dice to see how many badges to place on it. Draw your badge as a simple shape such as a triangle or a circle.

Nursery Home Learning 29.1.21

29th January 2021K HAMILTON

It’s Fun Friday!

It was lovely to see so many of you on our live session this morning, all with your colourful toothbrushes and white sparkling teeth! We hope you have enjoyed learning about how to look after your beautiful smiles as well as learning about the role of a dentist.

Today’s activities are:

Literacy

Use the whiteboard and pen from your home learning pack. Ask your adult to write your name on your whiteboard. Can you copy each letter from your name? Remember to write your letters in the correct order and to hold your pen using froggy fingers. This is something we would ask the children to practise every day in Nursery!

Maths

Put the Ten Town cards in order. Draw two mouths with numbers next to them. Today’s task is to predict which mouth will have more, less or the same amount of teeth. Check by using your playdough and putting the teeth in each mouth.

Science

Observe the changes to the coke, tea and water experiment. Take the eggs out of each cup. What do you notice? Do the eggs look different? Then use a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean each egg. What do you notice now? What does it tell us about keeping our teeth clean?

EYFS,Nursery

Nursery Home Learning 28.1.21

28th January 2021K HAMILTON

Good morning Nursery.

How does it feel to be a dentist? Lots of you put your new knowledge to good use yesterday through role play at home. We enjoyed seeing your pretend waiting rooms and dentist surgeries.

Today’s activities are:

Literacy

Use your scarf to make large movements as if you are brushing your teeth. Move up and down, in large circles and left to right. Then copy the shapes on your laminated mark making sheet, starting big then gradually getting smaller.

Maths

Draw two mouths with numbers next to them. Then use the playdough from your pack to put the correct amount of teeth in each mouth to represent each number. Which mouth has more, which has less or do they have the same? Repeat with different numbers.

Science

Set up another experiment. This time we are going to look at how different drinks can stain our teeth. Set up three cups with coke, tea and water then add a hardboiled egg to each cup. Predict what changes will happen to each egg.

Have fun!

27th January 2021K HAMILTON

Good morning everyone.

We are half way through the week and are already impressed with all the super learning you have been doing at home. Well done everyone and thank you for sending your photographs. We love seeing them.

Today’s activities are:

Literacy

Talk to your adult about the story that was shared during the live session. What job does a dentist do? How do they help us in the community? Have you visited a dentist? What happened?

You could pretend to be a dentist today. What tools would you need and how would you tell people to clean their teeth properly?

Maths

Draw a mouth just like the one shown in the picture with 10 circle spaces for teeth. Take turns rolling the dice. Count the dots on the dice and put the same amount of teeth into the mouth. You can use playdough balls, marshmallows, ripped up pieces of paper. The first person to fill all of their teeth spaces is the winner!

Nursery Home Learning 26.1.21

26th January 2021Ms A Emmerson

Happy Tuesday Nursery!

There have been lots of creative activities going on at home which is FANTASTIC! It is great to see so many of you using your new home learning pack too. Did you find out about dentists? Do you know how they help us?

Todays activities are:

Literacy

Collect objects with the same initial sound and put them in a bag. Try to use different objects than yesterday. Make up a song, such as ‘What have we got in our bag today?’ and then show your adults the objects one at a time. Emphasise the initial sound (e.g. s-s-s-snake, s-s-s-sock, s-s-s-sausage) when you say the name of each object.

Maths

Ask your adult to draw a tooth on your whiteboard and write a number from 0-5 on it. Can you recognise the number? Now you have to draw the right amount of cavities (holes) on the tooth. Repeat and include numbers 6-10 if you can. Brush the cavities away with an old toothbrush to make it more fun!

Apple Experiment Observation

Look a the changes to your apple and tell your adult what has happened to the cavity (hole) that you made. Does it look the same or does it look different? Has it changed colour? Was your prediction right?

Nursery Home Learning 25.1.21

25th January 2021Ms A Emmerson

It’s Week 4!

Wow we cannot believe it is the start of Week 4 of home learning. We have received so many photos of you completing Friday’s activities, with the help of your pets at home! The live session was so much fun when you brought them along to join in with you. We have a Nursery full of SUPERSTARS!

This week we will continue our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic and we will be learning all about dentists. What does a dentist do? How do they help us?

Todays activities are:

Literacy

We are going to look at alliteration, words that begin with the same initial sound. Collect two sets of objects. Each set of objects must begin with the same initial sound. For example cat, car, can and bag, box, bottle. Hide the objects in a bag. As you pull an object out of the bag group it by initial sound. Say the name of each item in each group, emphasising the initial sound.

Maths

Use your home learning pack. You will need the Ten Town cards, whiteboard and pen. Ask your adult to choose a card between 0 and 5. Draw a big circle on your whiteboard for a mouth, then draw the correct amount of teeth to match the number card your adult is holding. Repeat with 6-10 if you can.

Can you complete a special investigation?

Set up an experiment, you will need an apple. Make a hole in the apple, this is just like a cavity (a hole in your tooth). Predict what changes will happen around the hole. Leave the apple in a special place so you can check it during the week.
