What an amazing day Y2A had at The Baltic! We found out about different types of bridges, we drew the bridges over the River Tyne and we all designed an built a bridge that would support the weight of a steam train. We showed great team work and creativity, as well as demonstrating excellent design and engineering skills.
Our Harton Primary Elmer has taken over the Customs House, as part of the Great North Elmer Parade. Designed and painted by pupils at our school!

Year 3 found out that Stone Age man used to paint animals, hunters and their hands. They used minerals to make their paint.
We are learning about Henri Matisse in Year 4 and have been commenting on his paintings and collages. We think our own collages are very striking!
Year 3 have had a fantastic time during Arts Week. We have taken part in dramatic productions, produced works of fine art, and enjoyed vocal and body percussion workshops.

Thank you to all of our parents/guardians for the contributions during our Elmer Project Day. We raised over £400 for St. Oswalds Hospice.
We are so excited for Elmer’s Great North Parade and cannot wait to see our Harton Primary School elephant on the trail. During our project day the children put forward their own design ideas and they were amazing. We cannot wait to share them with you.
Our Elmer sculpture is complete! It has been collected and is off to join the herd. Look out for our Harton Primary School sculpture, called ‘Proud to be me!’ during the summer holidays. The trail will begin in August. A huge thank you to every child that completed an Elmer design! The children have spent so long painting the sculpture and making sure it looked it’s very best before leaving our school. It looks AMAZING!
Y3D wrote a letter to their new teacher asking about what Year 4 would be like and letting them know any worries they may have. But… most importantly we drew a self portrait to show everything we love about ourselves and the hobbies we have reflected on our faces we may look wacky but we love them! Can you guess who is who?
The children in Year 6 have enjoyed a range of activities during Arts Week, in particular they enjoyed working with Daniel, a visiting artist to create some Apollo 13 themed pieces of artwork, which will soon be turned into a book to showcase the children’s work. Here are a few snaps of Year 6 hard at work.
