This week Y3 were set a DT project linked to our Geography topic ‘The Rainforest’ We really enjoyed designing and then model making our own rainforests- we even included each different layer!
Take a look at our models!
Y3 enjoyed a trek through the rainforest virtually with Oliver using VR headsets! WE could not believe how realistic it was and what we actually came across! We found many animal species, plants and trees. We then moved onto looking at the effects of deforestation on rainforests around the globe – it was amazing!
Y3 have enjoyed crêpes au petit déjeuner this morning as a tasty treat to end our busy week! We were all able to order our crêpes in French and choose what tasty toppings we wanted too! Madame Smith will be super impressed with our French accents!
Year 3 have been thoroughly enjoying our drumming music lessons with Mr Winter. We have learnt lots of different types of beats including base, tone, snap and a ghost note. We have worked extremely well in our drumming groups and together we have been able to put together a sequence of different beats. It sounds fabulous! Keep up the great work Year 3!
Since returning to school, Year 5 have been enjoying more Music lessons. We use a programme called ‘Charanga’, which asks the children to complete a range of activities centred around ‘pitch, tempo, rhythm and pulse’. They have been using Glockenspiels and reading sheet music.
In Y5F, a musician has been coming into school to teach them how to use ‘GarageBand’ effectively -music software on the Ipads- to compose their own tracks.
(Y5J had this tuition in Autumn term and Y5B will be next!)
Keep up the great work Year 5!
1
Wow look at the eggs our Nursery children completed for the school egg competition!
A huge well done!
We have worked really hard in Nursery to complete observational paintings of our chicks.
Year 2 have been working so hard at home and we have been amazed with the fantastic work they have been sending in.
English
In English, children started off the term learning about China. They have been writing and performing poems about Chinese dragon’s dancing in the New Year parade. They practised reading their poems aloud, speaking clearly and using sound effects and actions.
Here are a few of the brilliant performances:
The children used the facts they learned about China to write some wonderful information texts.
Maths
Look at all of the marvellous multiplication that the children have been doing, investigating how many equal groups there are and how many objects are in each group:
Here is even more fantastic work that year 2 have been doing, we are so proud of them!
All of the children at Harton Primary School created some fantastic, festive baubles to decorate the whole school. You might have seen them adorning the classroom windows!
The children at Harton Primary School have been celebrating their positive attributes as part of a whole school art project. They drew a self-portrait and thought carefully about a positive word to describe themselves, there were some brilliant ideas and fantastic drawings.
The children were able to recognise their best qualities and the things that they like about themselves, helping them to reach their full potential. We were so impressed with how much they celebrate their own achievements and it was so lovely to see how proud of themselves they are.
