We have done lots of learning about the story Beowulf, this is our last week using the story to inspire our writing. This week we will be writing our own myth. What is a myth?
Today you will be planning your own story including the characters and the setting. Some hero myths include a special power or a magical object that is given to the hero by the gods, such as the supernatural strength in Beowulf’s hands that he uses to defat Grendel. You may want to include something like this in your myth (for example, magic glasses that allow you to see through walls or special gloves that turn enemies into stone when they touch them).
Your Task
For your lesson today, you are going to complete your plan as you watch the video on your Google Classroom with Miss Whitehead. You can complete your plan on the worksheet below or use a piece of paper and just put the subheadings.

How did the Romans change Britain?
Even though the Roman Empire ended its rule in Britain a long time ago, many of the things that the Romans introduced to Britain still have a big impact on our lives in modern times. We call this the ‘legacy’ of the Romans in Britain. Follow the PowerPoint lesson below to learn more…
Your Task
You are going to draw four selfies that help to show how the Romans changed Britain (see some examples on the PowerPoint slides on your Google Classroom). You can either use the worksheet attached below as a template or simply fold a piece of plain paper into four.
We still have some space on our fabulous Roman display at school so don’t forget to share your work with us at [email protected].
